Hearing the heartbeat

Hi all, I am only 5 weeks pregnant with my second but I can't remember if they hear the heartbeat at the 8 week midwife appointment or not? It may be different at different doctors but I amwondering when you first heard the heartbeat?

At my first scan at 15wk.

Midwife didnt start listening to it until I was around 20 weeks I think.

I saw the heart on my 12w scan, but the midwife didn't use a doppler on me until 16w

Heard the heartbeat at 12 week scan :)

Ok so seems to be later on then. Which will make the wait till the 12 week scan even harder!

THe midwife won't listen to the heartbeat on the doppler until around 16w at the very earliest. You can't pick it up before then.

I still haven't heard the heartbeat and I'm 21 weeks!

I saw the heart beat at 12 week scan but don't think I heard it until 16 weeks deffo wasn't first midwife appointment

16 week appointment it can't be detected before then x

Apart from the scans at 12 and 20, I didn't get 'doppled' until my last MW appointment at 25 weeks

My MW listened to the HB at my 16 week appointment with her but said that it is difficult to hear at that stage and that it might not mean anything if she couldn't find it.

Some midwives try at 16w but it doesn't always work. did work with my DD but a couple of weeks ago they managed with this pregnancy

24 weeks for me. I had seen it on 12 and 20 week scans, though. If they struggle to find it before then it's surely more stressful and worrying for you, so try to relax and hold on!

That makes sense, I suppose they wouldn't want to worry anyone for no reason if they can't find it. I only had my DS 9 months ago and the pregnancy is pretty much a blur already!

With my daughter I heard the heart beat. Was 10 weeks at the time. This time round she didn't do it (was also 10 weeks), she said she will look for it at 16 weeks appointment. Guess it depends on midwife. X

I had an early scan at 8 weeks due to previous miscarriage and saw and heard the heartbeat at that.

Ive never heard his heart beat at dating scan or annomoly scan . The first time was with my mw at 16 wks .

I had my first formal one at 16 weeks with the midwife but had listened to it on the home doppler at about 10 weeks? But it's tricky to get if you don't know where to look/what you're listening for.
