Midwife said it was very effective and advised me to stay on my feet as much as I can for the rest of the day to encourage labour. To be honest it was very painful and my legs are really shaky now. Standing and walking is just quite difficult. Bouncing on my gym ball whilst leaning forwards onto bed is ok though... Is this enough?? Don't want to waste the opportunity to get things moving.

I had epidural and forceps too. I think it's hard because of course more women who have an epidural have an instrumental (though it is by no means a forgone conclusion). But no one really knows whether they end up with an epidural because they are already having a more difficult labour.

Diamorphine/pethidine were the one thing I was desperate to avoid. It's horses for courses.
