So i'm 14 weeks and really want to know whether i'm having a girl or a boy. So a lot of people have been guessing what i'm having mainly because i cant bloody wait. I dont get morning sickness, i get it in the afternoon/evening and some people have said that i'm having a boy because of this. I know it's probably all nonsense wives tales but i really want to know what you all think, and were your instincts/hunces correct?

I love a good wives tale ;)

I totally KNEW I was having a boy. Until my sixteen week scan said it's a girl. I had a 16 weeks scan for a medical reason but you can get them privately and put yourself out of your misery.

I knew I was having a boy and I had one. Chinease Gender chart said the same for my friend too and it was right. I was nauseas all the time and was sick on the first friday of every month for 3 months at and I'd be sick by 12pm.

So my hunch was correct but I had a scan at 16 weeks to find out too

All the old wives tales and the nub theory said I was having a girl. Confirmed at 22 weeks that I'm having a boy.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 01/11/2014 21:48

Every old wife's tale including Chinese gender chart said I was having a boy. I had a 'feeling' I was having a boy.
I had a girl.

Second the suggestion to get a private scan. The technician at my 12 wk scan guessed boy and that was proven correct at 20 wk scan! They can tell surprisingly early and should be able to make a fairly good guess at 14 wks if u really can't hold out any longer. Smile

icklekid · 02/11/2014 06:45

If it helps I also had evening sickness and had a boy!

UnwittingAccomplice · 02/11/2014 06:49

The only old wives tale I thought might be credible was about whether your body hair is growing more (boy) or less (girl) than pre-preg. Mine hardly grew at all for the whole pregnancy and DD was, as predicted, a girl.

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 02/11/2014 06:49

The nub theory worked for me both times. Confirmed with scans.

PuppyMummy · 02/11/2014 08:01

I had no sickness at all and had a boy.

I also had no heartburn despite him having lots and lots of hair!

babyblabber · 02/11/2014 12:47

i'm on my third pregnancy which is exactly the same as the previous two in terms of sickness, tiredness, body hair, bump size/shape etc

I have a boy and a girl already so really the only way of knowing is a scan (we've always waited til D-day though!)

babyblabber · 02/11/2014 12:48

oh and the Chinese gender thingy said both mine would be boys!

Mmolly2013 · 02/11/2014 16:23

I had no sickness and I had a girl

Mmolly2013 · 02/11/2014 16:24

Also my hair didn't grow as quick on legs arms etc

FinickityCoder · 03/11/2014 15:42

Same as Magnetic here. All the old wives tales pointed to girl. The nub theory pointed to girl, in fact 2 sonographers said 'definite' girl based on the nub theory. Scan at 16 weeks and again at 20 weeks revealed that our 'definite girl' had a very clear scrotum and penis!
