NUCHAL FOLD SCAN at 12 weeks...anywhere in Suffolk/Essex?

hi
Just found out I'm expecting babe no.3: I used to live near King's College hospital in London and so had a free 12 week nuchal fold scan for both dds which gave a really good idea of down's syndrome risk etc- apparently neither Ipswich nor Colchester hospitals offer this. Does anyone know of a hospital or private place I can go to up this way to get a similar thing to save me schlepping all the way to London? I don't mind paying if I have to. Thanks!

St johns, Chelmsford did mine with dd1.

I live in Woodbridge jusat outside Ipswich and my GP referred me to Kings (4 years ago now)on the NHS.
I must admit I had heard that Ipswich were doing them, otherwise the Norfolk and Norwich is probably your best bet.The Nuffield in Ipswich used to do private scans but not sure if they do the nuchal fold test you could call and ask though.
Where abouts do you live?

I had mine at the Oaks Hospital (private) in Colchester. Lovely consultant.

I had the choice of having it there or Addenbrooke's, but didn't fancy the schlepp up to Cambridge, Park'n'ride to hospital etc, in the late evening (they only do them in the evenings). Better options for appointments at The Oaks. It cost £150, including video of the scan and scores of scan pictures. Easy to find and easy parking outside the hospital.

I know when pregnant with dd2 - St Johns offered one. But it was our local - not sure if they would do it - but worth a try.

posyparker, could you tell me where in colchester the oaks is? I can't find them on the internet unless they're also a mental hospital!
i live near colchester so that would be perfect..
eidsvold.. not heard of st johns.. where is that?
mmmc, brentwood is probably an hour from me, so hoping for somewhere closer, but thanks!!

sorry- Philly- why did he/she refer you for a nuchal? did you have a history or did you just request it? i'd be more than happy to go back to king's as it was fabulous and also if it was nhs it would be free which would help!!!!
thanks

St Johns is in Chelmsford. (Wood Street I think). They did mine, thought they had found the worst, gave us some counselling then asked if I wanted a referall to Kings College so that was NHS. Well worth it. i I agree Kings are fab. I even got scanned by Prof Nikolidis (bad spelling I'm afraid) he is amazing.

St Johns is Chelmsford.
