Does anyone have one of these? Does it make you more paranoid or reassured? Do you sit there all day with it attached (my biggest fear!)?

Am considering getting one - is it worth it?

I have one - got it in first pregnancy, and (having had four m/c in the past) it saved my sanity on endless occasions. I did have a few paranoid moments early on, when it took me a while to find the hb, but mostly - it was a godsend. And no, didnt' stay there with it attached all day - but did tend to have a listen most days for a few weeks: then I could feel the baby kick, and did'nt bother anymore.
This pregnancy, I used it much less - but still used it (I had several bleeding episodes, after which it was a huge reassurance), then hardly touched it from 16 weeks on, and then used it yestersday at 30 wks because hadn' been kicked for hours.
So for me...worth it.
I got it from www.mybump.com

Forgot to say - if you DO get one, and are early on in your pregnancy, please don't panic if you can't find the HB every time! Its usually very very low down, and if you have an anterior placenta it can be extremely hard or impossible to find till much later. I found it at 10 weeks, but not everyone does by any means.

I have one too, like elibean i used it everyday for weeks from 10 weeks, less now baby is moving around! I didnt get panicky if i couldnt find i would try again after a few hours, definately a godsend for me after 5mc's ad lots of bleeding in this pg also!

julezboo · 03/10/2006 16:26

oh also, if you do get one, as well as not panicking in the early weeks, it helps alot if you have a full bladder

fifiandtheflowertots · 03/10/2006 16:27

i had one, used it from about 11 weeks. Agree with other posters sometimes early on it takes a while to find the heartbeat.
I used it every couple of days and it was very reassuring and also it was lovely to sit and listen to it beating away.

fifiandtheflowertots · 03/10/2006 16:31

also, i got mine from www.anawiz.com, you can buy them outright or you can rent them for about £20 a month. You can send it back after a couple of months if you dont want it but after about 4 months youve paid for it anyway so you get to keep it

Daisypops · 03/10/2006 16:50

Fifi-can you just rent from anawiz for 3 months? The terms and conditions say they charge you £16.99 a month for 6 months but I'll only need one for three {smile] Its probably obvious & I'm been stoopid, do they just debit each moth then stop debiting when you return it? Soz for daft question x
