Second trimester problems!

I know I can expect sleep to become increasingly more challenging the later I get into pregnancy but I seem to be experiencing a weird phenomenon at 24+4!

I keep waking up with a 'snap', like I have to suddenly use the toilet or throw up, but nothing actually happens. I calm down and doze off again relatively quickly, but then it'll happen again an hour or two later. I've also started getting a weird 'fresh and cold' sensation at the back of my throat, is this heartburn related? I've never had it before so I don't know what to expect from it.

I'm also really starting to feel the fatigue during the day, and I still have another eight weeks before I plan to start my maternity leave (I have back and hip problems so I'm anticipating a tricky third trimester).

Does anyone have any tips on keeping energy levels up throughout the day? And has anyone else experiences the snap awake thing?

FTM - so apologies if these are ridiculously dumb questions, I'd rather speak to people that have had this experience first hand than rely on Dr Google!

I haven't experienced this but just wondering if you're lying on your back and pressing on that main blood vessel that you can make you sick/dizzy feeling?

I do wake up on my back a lot, but I find it really hard to fall asleep on my side because I often feel queasy late at night (I suffered really badly with MS right up to about 18-20weeks).

Will have to see about finding a way to prop myself on my side to see if it helps!

I just count all my waking up as practice for when my little girl arrives haha :)

I'm 28w today and for the past 8 weeks my nights go like this - 11pm - bedtime, 11:30pm "oh god need a wee" 12:00 tossing and turning, dose off in a stupid position 2am "oh god need a wee" 4am "arrrghh cramp" 6am "nooo back ache" then I'm up at half 6 for work.

I'm not going on maternity until 20th december (all being well) (I'll be 35 weeks) and to top it off I've just torn a muscle in my neck, got a uti, and all the doctor could do was give me a box of 50 paracetamol! haha.

Usually to keep awake I have a coffee in the morning, and weetabix (I hate breakfast so force it down) After dinner I have a peppermint tea that keeps me chipper. I leave for work at 7am, come home at 6pm (take about 4 bus journeys and a walk) and my working day is pretty tedious, so I feel your pain trying to keep alert and fresh!!

Once I'm home I have the urge to sleep on the sofa. DON'T you'll just ruin your night sleep, get up and have a bit of a walk around, I usually do crosswords or something :)

Oh and I was always a back sleeper, fall asleep on my side, regularly wake up on my back, despite the fact I have so many pillows my partner is falling out of bed!

I think that's how I did my neck in :/
