Driving whilst pregnant

I'm almost 38 weeks and still driving, although it's becoming a bit uncomfortable now with feet in my ribs. A friend of mine had a moan at me this morning for still driving as she doesn't think it's safe, plus I have to think about the other nutters on the road. I drive an automatic so the rigours of gear changing aren't really an issue.

When did you stop driving and are there any other issues to take into consideration?

Still driving at just under 35 weeks - I find it more comfortable driving than being a passenger - I think having something to concentrate on distracts me from any discomfort.

That said, every week I need to move my seat a little further back - just as well I have long arms and legs!!!

Only really driving short distances - DP doesn't like me driving very far so insists on driving me about which is fine as I've never loved driving anyway.

If you can physically drive then I don't see the problem with doing it? Sure enough if you were struggling and a bit of a hazard but surely that's something you'll know yourself?

I passed my driving test at 35 weeks and drove myself to my induction at 42 weeks

I prefer to drive when I'm PG it's the only time I get travel sick.

Bump never bothered me, but I never got very big.

I drove myself to hospital with my first child because my DH was at work and wouldn't have made it home in time. So I told him to go straight to the hospital - he was freaking out more than me about driving, I was more concerned about the giving birth part. Don't worry about it.

Drove in early stages of labour with dd. Took my younger brother to the train station down all windy country roads- dh wasn't too happy with me! Drove right up until all 3 dcs were born but had to really as im the only driver in our house.

I was having refresher driving lessons at 38 wks, the instructor was not keen on me travelling very far from home despot my enthusiasm to get some motorway practice in Grin

I drove til the end.

I remember a colleague of mine claiming she couldn't drive from about 25 weeks so got to "work from home" all the time. Ridiculous.

I drove myself to a midwife appointment at 38 weeks, then to the hospital and then ended up having a caesarean.

I've been told that there is a law in Germany that you can't drive while over a certain number of weeks pregnant. Does anyone know if that is true?
