Hi mums ! Please help me I am so scared ! Found out I was pregnant on October 1st! Elated ! Have a little girl who's 3 and this was our 2nd month ttc! Got sent for a dating scan as hadn't been charting periods and ovulation went for a scan last Tuesday and was shocked ! All I could see was gestational sac measuring 6.7mm and no yolke or fetal pole or heartbeat . The midwife said sac in correct place and looks like a very early pregnancy After reading lots online about this I wasn't too worried and have a scan at the epu scheduled for tues 4th nov. However on Friday night 24/10 I got home and had a red blood in my under wear ! The bleeding stopped pretty much immediately however lasts night I have been having some blood like browny( almost like the end of a period) I haven't had no pains and feel fine ! Spoke to epu and they advised to just wait for the scan next week and they won't see me before ! Has anyone had this? What was the outcome ? I'm all over the place as I think this pregnancy is now doomed which is awful as we soo want this baby ! Any help would be great ! Sorry for tmi xxxx

Don't panic - bleeds in early pregnancy are surprisingly common. Obviously it's not always the case, but a lot of the time it's not indicative of any problems. I had several light bleeds in the early stages of this pregnancy and one that was quite heavy, but all is fine.

Browny blood is less worrying, because that means it's old. Bright red blood indicates a fresher bleed. If you haven't had any pains or further bleeds, try to stay positive - the scan is the only thing that will tell you either way. They probably want a bit longer between scans so they can measure growth with more certainty. Fingers crossed for you Smile

Thank you ! I'm so paranoid and keep doing tests to make sure I'm pregnant ! Hopefully this is not a bad sign and ends up positive like yours x

Hi Lois1989,

I have had to previous miscarriages 1 mmc and 1 normal. I am now 24+1 day pregnant.

The start of this pregnancy was exactly the same as yours, I had deep red blood, it stopped then started again on and off over a couple weeks but in between when I wasn't bleeding I had brown blood like old blood and also after I stopped bleeding after the 2 weeks I had on and off brown blood.

I had a scan at 5+5 all that was present was a sac, I went back at 6+6 and there was a heartbeat and a fetus, I had a private scan at 9 weeks and everything was the same just a bit more detail.

What I'm trying to say is there is hope wen you think that everything is doomed, I couldn't believe my luck another miscarriage but I was wrong.

Try not to worry easier said then done I know but a lot of women bleed at the start of pregnancy it is really common.

Try not to worry...I posted a really similar query on here in the early stages of my pregnancy as I was having bleeding. It lasted on and off from the implantation bleed and finding out (2-3 weeks) up until 13 weeks....sometimes with period type pain, sometimes bright red blood dripping; sometimes just brown spotting with no pain. I was convinced the pregnancy was doomed and wouldn't hold but so far, so good (32+4 today).

I had a few extra epu scans and impromptu midwife appts (it's worth telling them every time it happens) and things were always ok, they just told me that 'sometimes this happens for no real reason'. Its REALLY hard tolerating the uncertainty of not knowing if you're still really pregnant or not...but essentially you have no other option but to wait and see.

Good luck!!
