Best time for gender scan?

I'm thinking of organising a private gender scan as I really want to know if I'm having a boy this time so I can get organised. This will be our second and last baby so I'd like to donate old girls' clothes/ pass onto a friend etc so we have at least a semblance of order when this one arrives.

DC2 due in April. I'm currently 15 weeks or thereabouts. When is the best time to get privately scanned purely for gender? I'm in London so imagine there will be plenty of clinics to choose from.

Thanks.

16 weeks, it is the earliest they can tell so why wait. I used babybond for both of mine. Babybond is now has new deals I just looked on their website, looks like if you can wait until 18 weeks it is on £39 for 10 min appointment just for gender. But if you have £79 for 20 minutes appointment from 16 weeks I would just do that.

Thanks ladies. Going for the cheap I one as it's the first available appt that suits. Will be at around 18 weeks so then I can double confirm at 20 weeks! Our hospital does a further growth scan at 34 weeks but I reckon baby might be too big to move around much by then.

I'd wait until at least 17/18 weeks. I got my first one at 16weeks exactly, and was told a boy. Found out a week later at a confirmation scan that she was a girl! Her bits were still too swollen at 16 weeks to check properly.

Thanks all, I'm booked in for 18 weeks. Gunning for another girl out of sheer laziness and not wanting to get wee in my face when I change a nappy!

We had a babybond one bang on 16 weeks and they were correct about her being a girl, the sonographer said they werent allowed to announce it until they had triple checked and were certain, we've had one at 17 weeks with this one which showed another girl and was confirmed at the 20 week scan.
