No fetal pole at 9weeks

I had passed a small clot( 1/2 the size if a dime (tues) I had brown spotting after with a bad back ache and period like cramping which lasted overnight. Friday I went in for a scan for sono to say my bladder wasn't full enough and she would have to do the vag ultrasound. I was 9weeks on wed. She wouldn't tell me anything. She faxed the results over to my doctor and he called me right away to say the news wasn't good. He said there was no fetal pole and the sack measured 5-6 weeks. I have had two breech babies back to back 17 months apart so unassuming I have a tilted uterious? With two previous pregnancies I could never hear the heartbeat until a 14 week scan. My doc is now sending me for beta level tests. The first one came back at 11610. That is around the 7 week mark for hcg levels. I am so crushed over this because we tried for a year for this baby. Is there anyone that had this happen to get another scan to find a fetal pole, egg yolk and heartbeat? Hanging onto a sliver of hope.....

Hi, so sorry to hear you're going through this. Is there any way you could have your dates wrong - how long ago did you get your BFP?

Lululemonqueen2014 · 27/10/2014 23:55

My last AF was August 20th. My BFP was Sept 12. I am a member of FF and was temping and charting. According to my OPK O 'd on CD 15 but got my first happy face on CD 12, with cramping and bloating. My temps were all over the place that month. It never looked clear to me on the O date. I can't see how I could be off 3weeks?? My bfp was at 9 dpo. Does the math line up to be 9 weeks 5 days?

Sorry Lulu, that's a lot of information - when did you POAS and get a BFP? Sometimes HCG results can be out, and it can take a while for implantation even after ovulation. At 9 weeks, they should have been able to see a heartbeat, that would be the clincher.

I had a mmc earlier this year, like you I was 9 weeks but only measuring 6, but the main thing was they couldn't find a heartbeat. They told me the results there and then, though - I don't get why she would wait and send them to your GP for you to be told over the 'phone! That's appalling.

I'd go back and demand another scan to find a heartbeat. Does your hospital have a local Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit? A lot of them let you self refer, particularly if you have already had an early scan.

I have had two babies already and have done the first trimester ultrasound and I have always been able to see the screen and even get a picture. I knew right away this time that something was wrong. She asked me in an off hand way of how many weeks I was. I said 9 weeks. She didn't look around very much before the exam was over. I saw on the screen after she left, a black uterious with a small white peanut shape in the middle. I guess the sack? I got my bfp at 9 dpo. I am a poas addict so I wanted to see how soon I would get a positive. I don't think we have one of those pregnancy assessment clinics here. If there is a problem, just go to emergency at the hospital. I just got my blood taken again today, so I will compare them to the first time and see if they doubled. I want another scan too!! I still can't believe this is happening to me....

I'm so sorry Lulu. Just keep on at them until you get a proper answer, but if you feel up to it I would definitely make a complaint about the way you have been treated. There is no way they should have told you that over the 'phone Flowers

Oh I hear ya on getting the results over the phone! I was devestated! I just got my second hcg levels back from the lab yesterday. Looks grim. It went from 11610 down to 9009 in 72 hours! I haven't started bleeding or anything and starting to get worried. I really don't want a d&c or the tablets. There is side effects with everything and want nature to take it's course but is taking so long. I really want to start ttc ASAP again and want to put this nightmare behind me. I am just thankful I never told my 2&4 year old that I was pregnant. They would still be asking when then baby was coming out.... My mom has been my rock through all of this and still need to tell my dad. DH has been a little distant as he has never been through this either. He just isn't good with emotion, except of course tears when our first daughter was born:). I am wondering how long my body can go before an infection sets in waiting for a natural miscarrage? Has anyone got a d&c to get pregnant right after with a healthy baby? I feel so alone in this. Thank you ladies for your help, and kind words.....,

My mmc was at 6+4, and I didn't have the erpc until I should have been over 10 weeks. I developed an infection in my mouth but they think that was more due to my lowered immune system than the mmc.

I had the erpc at the end of April, we started ttc in June and I fell pregnant straight away. I'm 19 weeks tomorrow.

Mc is rubbish, but you're not alone Flowers
