Bleeding @ 8 weeks...... TMI warning (possibly)

I am 8 weeks pregnant and have just gone to the toilet and once wiped i had a small amount of blood on the tissue. I popped a little around my finger and put it up myself (only slightly) to see if there was anymore. It was reddish, brown and rather watery.
I currently have thrush, a urine infection and a kidney infection which i am on anti-biotics for. I am hoping and crossing everything that, as my midwife said, the thrush could just be irritating the lining of the cervix or it could be an implantation bleed. I am not in any pain, only the usual ligament stretching discomfort.

I suppose i am looking for reassurance, i have been told to ring again in 24hours if it is still happening or if it gets worse and my midwife will send me for a scan....

I always worry that this would happen, i had a bleed, a very heavy one, when pregnant with my son but all was ok and i didnt know i was pregnant with my daughter until 20weeks so wouldnt of known if i had a bleed or not.

All i want to do is sit on the sofa now and not move but i have food shopping that must be done and OH has just said he will stay away while i am going through this!!!!! Not really the response i wanted to be honest.... Will see how i am tonight i think and if it is worse ring out of hours and see if i can be seen by them like i did with my son.....

I had quite a few small bleeds during my pregnancy with ds and everything was ok.

I believe that you can have a scan at the early pregnancy unit to reassure you as they do like to be sure it's not eptopic, perhaps make a GP appt.

8 weeks is a very common time to experience bleeds. Especially like the ones you're describing. Just sit tight and try and have a relaxing evening (easier said than done - I know...) and see how you get on.

Why does OH want to stay away? Seems like an odd response - how was he last time? I'd be honest and tell him you'd rather have some cuddle time if that's what you want.

Thrush can cause a bit of bleeding in pregnancy. I too had that at 10 weeks-scan at EPU saw that baby was fine but also spotted where the blood was coming from in the uterus. All more common than you think so try not to worry but do find out how to get referred to your local EPU just to check.

Like you said, any of the infections you have at the moment, or the thrush, could possibly be the cause of light bleeding, although I'm not a doctor so I'm not too sure! All I can say is that, at around 6-7 weeks I had some spotting and light bleeding for a couple of days, so panicking I booked a doctors appointment straight away, they offered me an early scan to be certain, and luckily the hospital had an available time a couple of days after. Those 2 days were the absolute longest days of waiting, but thankfully everything looked ok and I was told I had a Haematoma, which was described to me as a small blood blister. I still had light bleeding for a few weeks after that, and then it eventually stopped. I am now currently at 15 weeks. To put your mind at ease, could you request an early scan? Wishing you the best Thanks

yes my midwife has said to ring her tomorrow if no better or if it gets worse. OH doesnt know how to deal with these thing. We currently live apart, long story but we will be moving back in together very soon. He was great the last time, took me to the out of hours but couldnt face coming into the clinic.... he is more of a worrier than me i think. To be honest i think i would rather be alone once the kids go to bed so i can just snuggle under a blanket on the sofa, watch the soaps and really relax..... Im not in a cuddly mood at the moment and havent been for a couple of weeks now, just want my own space, not too sure why though

Thanks everyone, will contact midwife tomorrow either way and see if she can get me in for an early scan as i wont rest until i get to see or hear anything

I had a bleed exactly the same at 7 weeks pregnant and my baby was fine. The same happened at 8 then 15 weeks and again baby was fine.

When I was scanned at 15 weeks they found I had a low placenta and that had been causing the bleeding.

Try not to worry yourself too much. I know how worrying it is but as the.l bleeding is brownish I wouldn't assume the worst.

Hope everything is okay for you xx

The bleeding seems to have stopped this morning but i have awful pains in my abdomen, more just above my pubic bone so going to ring the midwife again this morning just to see if this is normal. I have absolutely no energy at all and could quite happily sleep alot longer than the 9hours i managed to get last night, although interrupted by dull aches in abdomen. Hope midwife has some reassuring advice or info for me though

Been to the docs and i am booked in for an early scan on Thursday morning. Doc isnt too worried as bleeding has stopped and my abdomen wasnt tender when she felt it so just to be on the safe side really.

I have been told i will be having an internal scan, has anyone ever had one of these before as i havent and dont know what to expect. Do you still see the baby on the screen?

Yes I had two internal scans. You see the baby and they give you photos. Good luck x
