2nd trimester - anyone still struggling?

From what I've been told and read things should be getting better now I'm in my 2nd trimester (15 weeks along). I'm still absolutely exhausted, struggling with appetite (probably due to tiredness) and although I don't feel nauseated, I've been sick a good few times the past few weeks as I feel everything in my stomach is sitting so high and it's very uncomfortable and being sick relieves it a bit.

Add to that I've been having dizzy spells when lying down. I think I'll phone the midwife tomorrow just to be sure.

Has anyone else found the 2nd trimester a bit of a struggle?

Yup. I'm 18+4, still have nausea though it has lessened, but I'm exhausted, very little appetite unless you count eating my body weight in cake, spotty, lack of libido, and I've started having heart palpitations if I take the stairs too quickly. Dizziness is normal apparently.

So far, can't say I'm enjoying this pregnancy lark Grin

I have been a lot better since I was 16 weeks, though.

I phoned the hospital just now and they want me in today to check my iron levels and I've been booked in at my GP in a few hours to have my BP checked. I thought they might fob me off, but they were lovely and took me seriously, so they're having me checked out.

I'm glad to hear it. My GP fobbed me off when I went in, which was annoying but the midwife was lovely.

Hope everything goes well today Flowers

My nausea only reduced at around 17-18 weeks and was then replaced by heartburn, but at least that only hits me in the evenings. So it does get better!

Yes! Me! I don't feel sick anymore but I am still totally totally exhausted. Dark circles under my eyes, bloodshot. Dizzy, breathless, face full of spots. Nose all stuffed up. I feel horrendous. Where is the 'pregnancy glow'??

foxyfemke · 27/10/2014 12:19

It looks like I might anaemic, which would explain a lot! Had some labs done and the result should be in later today, so the gynae clinic told me to phone them later to find out. My PB was fine, but my eyes looked pale according to the GP.

Raises hand in weak manner

I am 16+5 and, although my nausea is gone, I am exhausted beyond belief. I am sleeping somewhere in the region of 13 to 16 hours a day and breathless whenever I try to do a bit of something more rigorous than walking upstairs.

I have hardly any appetite and food seems to look a bit like I dunno furniture? Confused. I just look at food and don't get that "edible" vibe in much a similar fashion as I would look at a chair and think it wasn't edible. It's like an "anti-pica" thingy I have.

I am also deathly pale a lot of the time, although I am not anaemic.

Though, to be honest, I am slightly reveling in it though. I feel a bit like a tragic Victorian heroine ... all wan, pale and "taking to my bed during the day". Grin

20+1 here;

Still occasionally being sick, was in hospital twice last week with bleeding and bad cramping, exhausted, sore and miserable!

Glad I'm not the only one Grin

Bondy83 · 27/10/2014 17:40

Yes 22+4 today and still feeling as rough tired and sick as day 1 I think there's no such thing as a pregnancy glow

magneticfield55 · 27/10/2014 17:49

24 weeks and can't keep my eyes open.

foxyfemke · 28/10/2014 12:04

Turns out I'm no anaemic, but I have vertigo, which explains the spins. GP can't do anything about it yet, if it continues/gets worse he can refer me to the physio for some treatment.

He also told me that I need to take things easier, even easier than I have been doing.

Why is this so hard? It's been a hard-fought pregnancy and I feel like I should be grateful, but so far it's really sucked.

I felt my best between 8 and 16 weeks, after that I've been an achey, painy, dizzy, sicky, sluggish mess! lol. 28weeks and just walking around puts me in a bad mood. Definitely not glowing! We're all different :)

Miffy79 · 28/10/2014 12:37

Absolutely. This whole 'glow' is a total myth! I'm 20+5, still feel exhausted all the time, terrible insomnia, and now terrible heartburn... give me a break!!
