Shaking/shivering after vomiting

Hi

as is usual in pregnancy I get a lot of reflux and everything moves down very very slowly

After a small but stodgy meal yesterday my tummy was hurting and I needed to go to the loo but it wasn't moving fast enough and my dinner was making me sick

I ended up vomiting due to this

After I threw up I was feeling really weird/weak and my whole body was shaking/shivering... I eventually fell asleep and it went away...

I've thrown up lots of times before but never had that shivering...I thought maybe because in pregnant?

Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks!

I get this really often, am pregnant too, especially after one of those vomits where it's almost convulsive. Apparently the violence of the vomiting sends you're body into a low grade shock, cue lots of shaking/ shivering and for me fingernails go blue. It always stops after two or three minutes lying down with a heavy blanket or duvet. I told my midwife and she was not concerned just be careful when you stand afterwards as you might feel woozy/ faint.

Thank you for your reply..your explanation makes sense...

It hadnt happened to me before so was a bit worried, just incase it was due to something else...

Hi,

I'm 7 weeks pregnant and these last two weeks my sickness has been really bad. I'm unable to eat or drink anything without needing to bring it back up. And when I am sick afterwards I'm badly shivering but I don't feel cold. I'm so drained and tired. The anti sickness tablets I got given aren't working whatsoever 😭🤮

I basically always feel like this after I’ve been sick (whether pregnant or not) - I didn’t realise it wasn’t normal! It always goes away after a minute or two though.

I also feel like this every time I throw up. I think it's pretty normal.
