Anyone else feel huge?

im 30 wks and feel like I've ballooned in the last few days. I'm starting to feel really sensitive about my appearance as people keep commenting on my size. I feel like I look like a whale. People keep saying it's going to be a big boy and I'm worrying about the next 10 wks of growing. My tummy feels so tight that if it grows any bigger I feel like it's going to explode.

I'm sure I was this big with dd at 40 wks and she was 7 lb 13 and 2 wks late.

Have tried to tell dh about my feelings but he just looks at me blankly and tells me I don't look huge at all and to stop worrying. Think he thinks I'm just whinging.

I am whinging lol.

Anyone else feel like this?

I ballooned about 31 weeks as well, had to have a word with my mum in the end because she kept commenting on it - 'are you sure you have your dates right...' 'It's not like I'm not saying you're fat' etc etc

I'm now 37 weeks and not much bigger! So I wouldn't worry, for me anyway it was like a growth spurt. On baby 2 here as well, maybe it's partly because your body knows what to do? Good luck Smile

I've had the "are you sure it isn't twins?" thing a couple of times now. Yes I'm sure. If it was twins I'd tell you! Sigh. Confused

100% sympathise with this Sad

I am 36+4 and my bump didn't really make an appearance until about 32 weeks. Since then, it has expanded so fast I sometimes feel like there's a balloon in there that someone is inflating overnight. Yesterday evening DP even said to me, 'Wow, I think you've gotten bigger since this morning!' Gee, thanks Hmm

I'm normally a relatively athletic person and my abdominals are pretty good - sometimes people tell me I'm huge, but other people keep saying, 'Ooh, it's so neat still! Wait until it gets bigger!'

I want to punch them in the face.

I'm 30 weeks too with my first and I feel ridiculously massive and so uncomfortable! I'm having a boy and at every single scan he has measured bigger and bigger and last weeks was just scary I'm slightly worried he's going to come out huge!
I'm having a c section 2 weeks before my due date though so don't have to worry about getting him out!
Everyone keeps saying I'm big (and also giving the "is it twins" comment) and everything feels like hard work at the moment.

weebairn · 23/10/2014 09:56

I measured bigger with my second, but not till the third trimester, I didn't "pop out early" like some people do. I whinged about being huge throughout the entire last 10 weeks hah. Maternity clothes that fitted me first time didn't second time.

My second baby was quite a lot bigger than my first. Labour was loads easier and quicker, though.

I'm 34 weeks and feel massive - doesn't help that my friend who is only a few weeks behind has a tiny, cute bump.

For weeks I've been getting the "are you sure it's not twins" comments or "there is not way that baby will got to full term" or "that's at least an 8 lb-er'.

Not helpful when it's my first and I feel nervous enough about giving birth!!!

When I think back to my more ignorant days, I probably said the same thing to some of my friends - how the managed not to slap me I'll never know!

PlumFairy2014 · 23/10/2014 12:31

Me too! To most of this.

I genuinely don't think people realise how pregnant women actually look in their third trimester. All the posters/images are of the cute ball up the top bump.

I've been called massive more times then I care for in the last 10 weeks, but bumpy actually measured a bit small for most of it and I haven't put too much on elsewhere (convinced myself of this....).

I am overdue now and definitely don't feel like there's anymore stretch left! X

33 weeks here and I feel like a whale that has eaten another whale. I swear baby is lodged up behind my lungs, I feel sooooo uncomfortable. No idea how I'll make it through the next 7+ weeks. It doesn't help that there is a girl in work who regularly tells me "Oh my god, your massive!" etc every time she sees me... I've actually taken to hiding when I see her coming!

montymonty · 23/10/2014 16:23

I know exactly how you feel! People keep telling me I'm huge and it's been making me extremely self-conscious and feeling like I'm doing something wrong!

In the end I had a little moan to my midwife and she said that I'm absolutely average and that for some reason, women in pregnancy are fair game to all sorts of comments and everybody is an expert. She told me to listen to the people that matter (easier said than done) and we're all different so now I've just taken to asking in surprise 'Oh, I didn't realise you were a trained midwife!' when people carp on about how 'enormous' I am.
