Protein in every urine sample

Hello!
I'm currently 30+4 and my next midwife appointment is on Tuesday.
At every appointment since about 16 weeks I've had traces of protein in my urine, though my blood pressure has remained normal and I don't have any swelling or any other adverse symptoms - only the protein. At 25 weeks the midwife thought my BP was higher than usual so she sent me to the hospital, thinking pre-eclampsia, but they said my BP was normal and the trace of protein wasn't indicative of anything. The doctor advised me to make sure I'm really hydrated before each sample, but I still seem to get traces when I am. My (senior) midwife seems over-zealous (or really really keen to find a weight-related complication, since I haven't had any. I'm sure she'll be gutted that my GTT came back normally) so I'm almost expecting to be sent to hospital after each appointment with her.
Sooo. Why do I have protein in my urine every time? Someone reassure me it's just the way I am and nothing to worry about? Confused

I had protein in every sample too for each of my first 2 pregnancies. I'm on my third pregnancy now and each sample is clear. I never found out why the urine had protein in but my midwife didn't seem concerned so I didn't fret about it.

Supadebo thank you, that is reassuring!

Possibly tmi but I recall being told by my midwife that getting discharge mixed in with your sample can cause trace protein to show up. I always make sure to wipe very carefully first now. But if it's just trace, and never gets any higher, I probably wouldn't worry too much.

Ah SomeSunny I thought I'd added that to my OP but yes, I was told leukocytes can be caused by discharge (I get so anxious about catching any urine at all that I probably get too close, TMI).
Sometimes I get traces of protein, sometimes it's +1. It's the only symptom I have, though, and I don't feel as though I have a UTI. Confused!

TMI but I also had a lot of discharge so made sure I was very clean before doing sample, usually first thing after shower. This stopped any trace protein showing.
