Me and my partner are looking to start trying next year but wondering what everyone thinks the best time of year is? I've got one boy already who is Middle of December, I hated being pregnant then as don't deal well with cold and was snowing so was very isolated at home. What does everyone think is a good time?

I'm due this Sunday with my first and part of me thinks it might be nicer to have a 9 month old baby in the summer than a new born. I imagine the first few months are fairly isolating anyway so it makes no difference how bad the whether is at that stage.

But having said that I think next time I'd like to have a baby in the spring. Not really sure why... Maybe because spring feels like a good time for new things, it's Easter, baby lambs in fields etc. (So no actual logic behind that!!)

Ultimately, there are pros and cons to all the seasons for all the stages in the first year.

I know September is traditionally a very busy time to have a baby, so maternity wards tend to be quite stretched. And lots of people don't want August babies for fear of being the youngest in class (personally I don't think this makes much difference in the grand scheme of things).

I know a fair few teachers who have desperately tried to organise conceiving so they don't have to take maternity leave over the summer holidays. Most of them have discovered it's impossible to control this!!

i conceived my DS over the xmas holidays and he was born early september, I was heavily pregnant over the summer which at the time I thought was awful but with the nursery and school it has made all the difference with him and his development, and being able to cope with the demands of school. If I was going to conceive again I would try for the same time.

2 of mine were march babies, eldest is 10 when she was born march was spring and lovely....now its usually snowing lol
DS was a winter January baby 2011 so in that really awful weather it was hell being pregnant and i fell and did a lot of damage to myself but tbh I found no change in how isolated we were we walk everywhere anyway and I had a decent pram so the snow didn't stop us.
Best will in the world you cant plan these things though so I would just start TTC when you feel ready it might happen straight away it might take a year or 6 months

For me I think it would be easier to have a new born when it's warmer as I will be doing school runs with my son in September next year so would be better to not have a tiny baby out in the rain as I don't drive etc. I love the heat so I don't think that would bother me to much.
