Vomiting bug

I'm 12 weeks today and I was looking forward to having a scan tomorrow and hopefully lessening my anxiety about this pregnancy. I had a scan at 8 weeks and all was well but I got pregnant just after having an early miscarraige in July, so I was more concerned than I might have been otherwise.

I've been really queasy throughout this pregnancy so far so haven't been eating great but was managing to keep my multivitamins down and fluids up. Last night, however, I caught a vomiting bug which DS had last week and I had a miserable night. I'm worried about the baby, especially since I wasn't eating fantastically before this and I don't know exactly what kind of bug it is. Can't even manage small sips of water at the moment. Has anyone been through similar and all was ok? I don't think I can go for the scan now as I don't want to make other women sick but that means I'm just going to worry more!

I had several sickness bugs in early pregnancy (after having a miscarriage at 11.6 weeks) like you it panicked me. But the doctor explained I would be feeling even worse as baby would be taking everything it needed and leaving me with whatever is left. Try and rest as much as possible and drink what you can- the only thing I could keep down was coke, not ideal but it stopped me becoming dehydrated.

Thanks Buttercup, that's really reassuring Thanks

Think I'll give 7up/lucozade a go too.

Last time I had this all I could keep down was tonic water. No idea why. Try dioralyte as soon as you can stomach anything, it'll make you feel tonnes better. I'm sure baby will be fine, out bodies & the whole process is very well designed to protect them. Feel better soon x x

I caught a vomiting bug when I was about 8 weeks pregnant. Spent a horrible 48 hours, vomiting loads, high temperature etc. Now I'm typing this as I shush my perfect in every way 4 month old to get him to nap for longer!!

The day after the bug all I managed was very small sips of wAter and tiny bites of toast. I'm sure you will feel better soon, and even if you don't eat anything for a day, the baby will be fine!

Thank you everyone. Had a nap after no sleep last night and I'm managing to keep down small amounts of liquid. Hopefully I'm on the mend now!

I had it at 7 weeks pregnant, it was awful :( many sympathies. I ended up being prescribed Citropram (or similar, I think, something to stop me puking anyway) and Diarolyte.

I'm now 13+6 and so far :touchwood: Everything is fine
