hi all

I'm now 18 weeks pregnant and for the whole pregnancy so far all I have been able to keep down are carbs. toast, cereal, potatoes, anything relatively plain in that category.

thing is, apart from my pregnacare multivitamin, I'm not eating a varied diet with fruit and veg which worries me. One, for the baby that they're possibly not getting the right nutrients and two, for me as I have piled on the pounds from all this carb eating!!

I have suffered from nausea and sickness from 6 weeks and it doesn't seem to be shifting. I'm worried ill have to go through the next half of my pregnancy eating the same thing Confused

has anyone else found they can only stomach carbs? does anyone have any tips for getting fruit and veg into my diet without heaving it up again!?

Carbs are my only friend too. To the point I have been eating just a bowl full of potatoes. DP bought me a salad the other day...it didn't end well.

I was worried too but was reassured as long as you're eating something the baby will take what it needs.

Pretty standard for the first tri tbh, I wouldn't worry. The baby will be getting what it needs from what you are eating and the multi vits. You'll probably find that, once you get to the second tri, your appetite for fresh fruit and veg will return.

Sorry, just realised you're eighteen weeks already. I still wouldn't worry too much. Babies are pretty resilient, and you may find it improves at some point. I never really managed to get back into salad at all, but can cope with stir fried or steamed veggies now.

Another carb monster here! Now that I'm a few weeks into second tri things are improving but still predominantly carb based food I'm wanting.

I wouldn't be too concerned. As long as you are eating baby will get what's needed I would think

I was almost exactly the same, now 19+4 and last week was the first time I've eaten a 'proper' dinner - it was amazing!

My OH just kept saying that baby will tell you what he/she wants Smile

Thanks for the replies Smile

sometimes I really feel like a big salad and lots of veggies but the second i have that first mouthful I know it was a bad idea!

I'm just so sick of bread, hopefully this passes soon, but I have a feeling I'm going to be one of the unlucky ones who suffer from sickness all the way through! Sad
