Didn't realise this was on the no list. I thought it was just soft serve ice-cream so now in mild worry stage. Make me feel better and share some of your food rebellions while pregnant (knowingly consumed or not!)

devoncreamtea · 18/10/2014 18:53

surely not?!! It's totally fine - don't worry about it!

nethunsreject · 18/10/2014 18:53

Yogurt is fine unless unpasteurised I think? I ate brie and stilton when pg. Both kids are reasonably normal ;-).
Congratulations on your pregnancy :-)

SpanielFace · 18/10/2014 18:56

I went to a friends wedding when 7 months pregnant. Evening buffet was a cheeseboard. I ate a large quantity of very yummy, stinky, soft, mould ripened unpasteurised cheese, without really thinking about it, then suddenly remembered and panicked! DS was fine! I'm sure you'll be ok Smile

MrsMarcJacobs · 18/10/2014 18:57

it was the soft serve variety which is why the worry would be listeria rather than the actual yoghurt. Thanks for the support, I feel like I have forgotten all the rules/guidelines!

What banned list is this on? It's a new one on me.

eurochick · 18/10/2014 18:58

Ah ok. Listeria is rare. Try not to worry.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 18/10/2014 18:59

When they start doing Global "Dont Eat" lists, thats when its time to listen. Every country seems to have different rules so until they can all agree, Ive been eating what I want.

hollie84 · 18/10/2014 18:59

Did you get it at one of those frozen yoghurt shops? If so I'm sure they clean the machines regularly and it will be fine, think it's ice cream vans where the hygiene might be a bit dodgier.

ilovepowerhoop · 18/10/2014 19:01

was it bought from a shop in a tub? It is fine. I have never seen frozen yoghurt on a 'don't eat' list.

Its Mr Whippy style ice cream that its advised to avoid but that is more to do with the equipment being cleaned regularly rather than a problem with the ice cream itself

smogsville · 18/10/2014 19:01

Stilton is allowed. Got some waiting for me downstairs.

Had some naughty ham and cheese days on hols last month in France and Spain and swordfish which i mindlessly picked at from DD's plate without thinking.

Loads of caffeine when preg with DD in form of several cups of normal tea every day, somehow I missed that one. Got some decaf in this time round.

Dad's homemade ice cream but then again I don't buy the whole anti eggs thing.

Are brains allowed? Cooked obviously. Had some of those last week at fancy Indian. couldn't see them on a banned list anywhere so I went for it as supposed to be dish not to miss.

What I love said

bigkidsdidit · 18/10/2014 19:19

What on earth is wrong with frozen yogurt?

I had a triple shot americano every morning of both my pregnancies (but nothing else throughout the day). I have two very healthy very chilled out children!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 18/10/2014 19:41

Aye it's the ice cream vans they're advising you of, but it's the same deal whenever you eat somewhere the food is prepared for you - it's a question of how hygienic the equipment/premises are.

I accidentally had a delicious gin cocktail, but didn't stop drinking when the gin was discovered. Meh!

MrsMarcJacobs · 18/10/2014 19:55

The concern was more the machine dispenser than the actual yoghurt itself. :) thanks of all your replies.

I got so tired of missing sushi that I ate some. I also ate soft cheese and pate. I was fine as were the DC.

ilovepowerhoop · 18/10/2014 20:01

sushi is ok as long as it was frozen beforehand.

Where did you get the frozen yoghurt from? If it was a reputable shop then they will clean the machines regularly. I would be more wary of an ice cream van.

MrsMarcJacobs · 18/10/2014 20:36

It was from a shop - frozen yoghurt chain so I am probably being OTT. Mmm, sushi!

OP posts:
Peaceloveandbiscuits · 19/10/2014 00:08

Nah forget about nine months with no sushi. Not happening. You don't have to have sashimi if you're anxious, just eat everything else. Mmm. Sushi. Mmm.

pinkteapots · 19/10/2014 07:54

Rare steak. If anyone handed me a fully cooked steak I would cry, or throw a tantrum, or rant about the waste... depending on hormones. Soft cheese. Parma ham. Patê. Coffee. Christmas cocktail (mojito... yum). In fact now I think about it, you could say I continued as normal really. These were treats mind you, I dont eat like that every day! Ive 4 fairly normal children :-) Mind you, my personal opinion is that lots of those rules are social as much as medical.

MissWa2a · 19/10/2014 22:15

I've been pretty naughty - ate a ton of jamon serrano (toxoplasmosis risk) when back in Spain at about 3months pregnant. Probably averaged a glass of wine per fortnight early on too. Have eaten mussels, runny poached eggs, and med.rare steak. Only thing I've not eaten that I adore is brie/camembert, pate, and sushi. Have pretty much cut out caffeine, though.
