Would you trust this gender scan from student midwife?

My 20 week us was done by a student midwife and he seemed very under pressure and confused, he had a qualified midwife overlooking him but he seemed to make mistakes a lot and she had to pick him up on it and would take over.

Towards the end of the scan he asked if id like to know anything else and I said I would like to know the sex (by this time the midwife that was watching him had left) he asked if I had any gut feelings and I said I thought he was a boy because I just had a feeling. He briefly looked down and then brought the scanner back up and didn't show me anything just said "yeah I think your right, I saw something dangle so a boy"

Would you trust this? I don't know ever since that scan I have doubted it and have had dreams that I have a baby girl.

Here is the only scan photo I got that you might be able to see something in in terms of genitals

Would you trust this gender scan from student midwife?

No, I wouldn't.

Do you mean student sonography though? Midwives tend not to carry out scans.

*sonographer

susiedaisy · 18/10/2014 12:08

No I wouldn't.

I wouldn't trust that no, even the most experienced sonographers can get it wrong so I definitely would be taking a students unsure word with a pinch of salt and booking a private scan if I really wanted to find out.

I'd be a bit dubious about the whole scan from your description and certainly wouldn't trust the gender bit.

Oops yep I meant student sonographer! I did question it with the qualified one and she said there unlikely to be wrong about girls possibly vice versa but other way round is rare although she didn't actually see it
