Can a UTI cause a mc. Worried.

Had no symptoms but told I had a bad uti, I'm now absolutely petrified that I've found out too late and my baby will be harmed. I'm on antibiotics now to get rid of the infection.

Any comforting words? :/

I had a UTI at 6 months and ds was fine, so please don't panic Smile Keep drinking to flush the bugs out and I hope you're on the mend quickly Thanks

Thank you ladies. I just don't want anything to go wrong obviously and have read that it can be linked to mc. I'm a worrier!

As far as I know the only way a UTI could cause a problem is if it turns into a kidney infection, and I'm pretty sure you'd know about it if you had that! I don't really understand how it can have been a bad UTI if you had no symptoms - I've certainly known about the several UTIs I've had during this pregnancy from the horrible symptoms! Maybe they affect different people in different ways.

Keep taking your anitbiotics, drink lots of water - everything will be fine :)

I've been really poorly with morning sickness and found out I had the uti when being tested to see if I was dehydrated. So all the symptoms must have just merged together into one big feeling like crap.

Sad Oh, you must be! Being dehydrated can cause UTI's. If you're not drinking and are dehydrated enough the bacteria doesn't pass through quick enough (and you get concentrated wee).

lumpyparcel · 16/10/2014 12:27

If I wasn't so sick I'd be all right forcing the bacteria through. I've been drinking as much as I'm physically able. DP tucked me up in bed with a supply of bottled water and drinks while he's at work. I'm trying my best to go to the toilet as much as possible but my body needs the fluids too so I'm worrying about that too!

Your body takes what it needs and flushes the rest out, so don't worry. If you're vomiting a lot and not weeing a lot it may be a good idea for you to call your midwife though. You could probably do with going on a drip.

lumpyparcel · 16/10/2014 12:38

They didn't put me on a drip they just gave me an anti sickness jab and watched me drink something. I think they put everything down to the uti. I have to go back in a few days so they can test me again. I'm just worried for my little nugget, think I'll ask to check the heartbeat when I go back for piece of mind.
