Hi ladies. Had a molar this time last year. All sorted early this year. First month of trying and was feeling rough at 3weeks 3days. Did a test and was positive. Will be 4 weeks tomorrow and am feeling really nauseous. Worried that either it's a mole regrowing or multiples. Anyone have any experience?

Hi Tiddles

First of all congratulations on your bfp!

It's a very scary time for you, I know I have been there too! This time 2 years ago I had just nicely got the all clear to ttc again after a CMP diagnosis and that little bundle of joy is just about to turn 15mo.

My symptoms with my post molar baby were very similar to the molar which obviously scared me a lot but it all worked out fine in the end.

I requested an early scan with DS just for reassurance but still struggled to accept the pg until around 28 weeks (felt scared and detached - not quite sure what changed at that point but something just clicked). Please try not to worry and try to take comfort in the fact molar pregnancies are quite rare and to have more than one molar pg is damn unlucky. Though I know from personal experience until the baby is in your arms the molar will still haunt you to a degree!

Have you discovered the molar pregnancy forum? If not get yourself on there for some support. It's a forum originally set up by a lovely lady who felt there was not enough accurate info/support for molar pg. There is also a post molar forum for those past the initial diagnosis/treatment/post molar mums to be again with lots of support from others on there.

Please feel free to pm me if you would like to chat xx

Hi Tiddles!
Congratulations on your positive!

I had a complete molar in Feb and then an (non molar) early miscarriage in July. Good news though: I got pregnant straight after the mc and an now 12+5 with a lovely healthy pregnancy.
The great news is you'll be eligible for an early scan- mine reassured (slightly!) at 8 weeks. Smile The 12 week scan was magical and the sonographer kindly pointed at all the reasons that it was not a molar.
The EPU nurse told me anecdotally that it was very unlikely to happen again- she had only come across one case of someone who had had a molar, then after having five subsequent healthy pregnancies, had another molar at the end of her child bearing years.
In terms of re-growth, my understanding is that it's really rare once your levels had reached zero. I think I managed to find one study in the 70s where a small percentage had relapsed, but the findings were not reliable as the Hcg numbers couldn't be measured as accurately back then and 70s '0' doesn't necessarily mean 2014 '0' .
Best of luck with your pregnancy. Look after yourself.

Also, just to say, all of my symptoms were exactly the sand for all of my pregnancies.

Thanks for the lovely replies. Nice to know there's a good chance it will be ok. Much the same as the molar though you always fear the worst xxx

Unfortunately you will always 'symptom' spot and compare - I think it's only natural after what we have been through. Try and relax though and get yourself sorted for that early scan. I was advised to request mine for 8 weeks as then baby would be there to see (any earlier there could be the angst if it's too early for them to find baby, heartbeat etc). The lady who did my scan was more experienced and knew what she was looking for with post molar baby - she also thoroughly checked placenta, baby and had a thorough mooch around to confirm no issues which was very reassuring. Keep in touch and let us know how you go xx
