Help with Antenatal GROW Chart Please!

Hi, I am being sent for a scan tomorrow due to the babies growth. I am unsure why and trying to make head nor tail of the growth chart. I have hopefully attached my chart. They are concerned she is too small but to me it looks like she is just under the 90th percentile?

Hopefully the information on the chart is enough but my son was 6 pound 7oz and born a week late. I had very head blood pressure with him and I am sure I had preclampsia with him, but the midwife plus jnr docs were up against the consultants who didn't take it any further, I feel due to the fact the hospital was massively overcrowded. He was classed as 5th percentile on birth, but the midwife mentioned GDA and I don't know what that means.

I am currently 38 weeks, I am 5 ft 6 inches, was 10 st 7 when I got pregnant. My BP is slightly high (it was very high at this stage with my son 2 years ago) 139/91.

I can see that the growth chart has shown she has gone from being above/on 95th percentile and has gone down to just under 90th, so the only thing I can guess is that they are concerned, alongside the slightly raised BP, that her growth is slowing, but to me it looks insignificant, hence I am confused.

I would just like to go in tomorrow with a bit of knowledge. I am not a drama queen and not looking to make a mountain out a molehill, just want to look at it from a level point of view.

And I am really grateful for everyone's interest and comment, but I would really, really rather people didn't guess at what it means, as that is what I'm already doing. I was hoping for someone who has either been through it and/or knows a lot more about it than me to pass on some information.

Thanks a lot in advance!

xx

It's now protocol to send for a growth scan of the baby's growth doesn't appear to be staying in the same percentile.

It's above the line for 2 measurements and below the line for 1. So I exiect this is why. But yes, I agree it's in the 90th centile. Maybe it's dropped by 10?

But don't worry, the fundal height measurement is only an estimation. So it's very unlikely to mean anything, the midwives use it as a guide and send you for a scan if there is a decline or increase in growth rate. They did the same with me. The scan will tell you everything you need to know.

Just re-read your post and can see you've already measured it's a drop of 5, which I agree is only a little, but it's a drop all the same and some midwives just don't take any risks.

A similar thing happened to me. The scan proved the fundal height measurement was out by about 50!! The midwife said its really not very reliable but it's all they have to go by. I think it's pretty good they err on the side of caution if there's any doubt. And it was lovely to have another scan just to see the baby again :)

Thanks - that was the only thing I could see and I could imagine that against the scan the information is not really very accurate on the chart. I agree, said the same thing to my mum, better to be safe then sorry. Glad I wasn't missing the obvious! Many thanks again xx

No worries, what did the growth scan say in the end?
