Anomaly scan tomorrow, anyone else?

Got my scan tomorrow and am jibbering with terror. This is the one where I think I'll finally be able to accept I'm having a baby. I'm so afraid of something being wrong! Anyone else got theirs this week?

Good luck! Really hope it all goes well and that at least some of your jitters are coming from the excitement!

I have my first scan on Wednesday. Have been feeling so ill with this pregnancy, and its been so different to DS1 that I'm mainly worried about the prospect of twins (yes, they're in the family). Seriously, it would tip em over the edge right now!

By anomaly scan, do you mean 20 weeks? I'll be 9+5 weeks on Weds and so may need to request another scan for neuchal test in 4 weeks' time, and then have another at 18-20 wks. Will see what they say at the hospital.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow - let us know how you get on X

Good luck. I'm pregnant again and have a gender scan on Saturday where I'll be 17 and a half weeks and so they'll also do an anomaly scan as part of it. Even though this is my second baby I'm just as nervous as I was the first time round!

Remember the odds are in your favour - the thing that kept me going was that I was reading far more horror stories on places like mumsnet and Count the Kicks than I had heard from my friends and, while I know these things have to happen to someone, you really do read more sad stories in a place where thousands of pregnant women come together than among your friends/relatives etc.

I hope it all goes well for you.

I was right to be scared. All seemed ok, told us sex (it's a boy, not a girl). We didn't have time to adjust to that as they found abnormalities in the stomach. It doesn't fill (were scanned over 3 hours) and it's a sign of a serious life threatening birth defect called oesophagal artesia. It almost never occurs in isolation- it has other defects associated. And chromosomal disorders. We have to go back Thurs. If scan hasn't changed I need an amnio. The consultant offered us the amnio there and then but we wanted to give it a chance. We haven't stopped crying.
