Hello I wondered if anyone had experienced this, I have gained a stone!!! In seven weeks. I can't believe it, my clothes are tight but I felt I looked ok, I don't look like I have gained so much weight. I have been eating more as I get so hungry at about four! Really concerned that this weight could have piled on do fast!!!!

Snap. Gained about 10lb between positive test at 4 weeks and first mw app at 12. Now at 22 weeks and only gained 4 lb since. Found after first trimester was easier to eat healthily and little and often works well.

Don't worry! I piled on 10 kilos in first couple of months or so and then didn't really gain huge amounts after that so ended up an OK weight! I was starving during the first trimester; literally could not get through the night without eating. (My heroic dh got up and made me cheese & ham sandwiches at 4 am every morning for about 3 weeks!)

Me too. In that first trimester my weight shot up. I stopped weighing myself as I was horribly depressed by it. I started at my ideal weight and I dread to think what I am now. Every bit of me has got chunkier. My arse wobbles, I can't do up my winter boots, my thighs fill my chair, just awful. I even started dieting. I've quit all that now. Just getting chunky, wearing big clothes and looking forward to summer when I will eat salad and hopefully lose some of it.

I had this too, but have only put on half a stone between 12-36 weeks bringing my total gain to a stone. I was very slim pre pregnancy (size 4) so my Midwife thinks it was my body bringing me up to a fair starting point so to speak!

IamOldGregg · 13/10/2014 10:04

Thank you ladies. I am not overweight but definitely not slim so to see the scales nudging at a stone gain was just horrible :( I just am so shocked, as I have been eating more but I had no idea. I have been so dog tired that I use food to perk me up so I can look after the other children. This is number 3 and in my first two pregnancies I put on 2 stone overall.

I don't want to diet but feel so down about this huge gain :(

Thank you for replying - I hope it all levels off! X

with my last pregnancy I gained most of a stone in the 1st trimester but 2.5 overall. I actually had a small bump last pregnancy.

This pregnancy I was up to 12 lb by 10 weeks. now at +11 lb at 13 weeks now the bloating has gone down.

Unfortunately I just have to eat through the nausea. Hoping I have a similar slow down in weight gain in the 2nd trimester. I think my body just does what it has to do with weight gain....but that doesn't stop me worrying!!

fortywinx · 14/10/2014 09:20

I don't own a set of scales, but as my clothes are becoming uncomfortably tight, I think I'm definitely putting on weight rapidly (and I'm only about 6 weeks). I have a lovely little bloat bump already as well =/

ChickenMe · 14/10/2014 09:31

I was massively bloated almost straight away in the first trimester-and ravenous. And could only face eating carbs.Sad. I put on about six kilos.
Luckily by the second trimester I lost my appetite completely and unluckily the morning sickness is still here too. The craving for salty junk food has pretty much gone. I can only face eating fruit, veg and cheese. And I get full after a child sized portion.

ThisBitchIsResting · 14/10/2014 20:51

I am usually a size 8, I put on 5 stone in my first pregnancy and lost it all within 4 months. 3 years later, I'm now 6 weeks pregnant and I don't own any scales but I'm eating like a horse, it's the only thing that helps the nausea! Grin

butterbeerfloat · 15/10/2014 01:43

I had gained a stone by 8 weeks! I was mortified. God do NOT listen to all the "you should have gained 0-4 pounds in the first trimester" utter crap!
By 33 weeks my total weight gain so far is about 20 pounds, so it certainly slowed down!
Keep active, eat healthily, and don't even bother getting on the scales tbh!

HulaHoopsInTheBath · 15/10/2014 08:13

I figured this is why the m/w uses your booking in weight as starting weight. I go by that weight and am 29 weeks and gained a stone. But if I went by my actual start weight it is a good bit more than that!!! Really been nowhere near as hungry in the 2nd and 3rd tri so far as I was in the first.
