The doctor is sending me for an extra scan - something about checking the blood flow in the placenta, as i had high blood pressure with dd. At the time i was too preoccupied to ask questions - but as i am going on monday i wondered what they do - is it an internal one, or through my tummy - i did want to take dd (they are doing routine scan at the same time) but i don't really want her to see me legs akimbo! ANy advice would be greatfully received

When I had a doppler scan with dd1 it was like a normal ultrasound - but I was 38 weeks at the time - not sure if that makes a difference.

just like normal scan except with a fancier machine I think

I had a couple of dopplers from about 28 weeks - both were just like having an ultrasound scan.

I've had a number of dopplers due to placenta failure with DS1, they are just like normal scans -- through the tumy. Mine were all done by a consultant. They can check all sorts of blood flow, so found out that I had a fantastic cord with DS2
So don't worry too much.

BTW had them between 26 - 36 wks.

Thanks for all the replies - i will be 22 +6 - the doctor asked for it to be done at 20 wks, but the receptionist reckoned she knew better!
