Can you recommend soft baby vests/ bodysuits? What size to buy for a first baby....my sleepsuits in first size only go up to 7lb and already estimated to be above 6lb!

John lewis plain white vests and sleepsuits are lovely and soft and wash really well, perfect for a newborn.
0-3 months were absolutely huge on my 7lb10 baby though (think I was being a bit ambitious with the whole buy things they'll grow into idea!) so I'll get size down next time. Newborn size usually only lasts 5mins unless you have a tiny baby!

Next up to 1 month is up to 10lbs
Ds was 8lb and lived in these for about 3 weeks until 0-3 for him
We didnt have anything smaller

I love mamas and papas sleepsuits. They are really lovely quality and the designs are quirky and a far cry from the usual blue/pink stuff.
They are quite expensive, but if you've got one of their factory outlets near your they are usually half price.

Sorry, forgot to say that the newborn size lasts up to 10lb so I got some good wear out of them.

I've bought a few cheap vests and sleep suits in newborn (up to 7-8lbs in most shops) in case the baby comes out quite small, I want something that fits well for photos. I found some great sleepsuits in Morrisons and Sainsbury's, they had sleeves that folded at the end to make built-in scratch mits.

Then I've got a mix of prettier sleepsuits in up to 1 month (10lbs) and 0-3 (14lbs). My favourites are from Next as they also have the built in scratch mits and come in nice designs (even in unisex).

My vests in all sizes are Mothercare and Sainsbury's - they seem lovely and soft.

I and what each shop calls each size can be confusing so I've sorted things in to piles based on the maximum weight it will fit according to the label rather than what the size is called.

I would avoid verbaudet as I find a lot of their baby clothes come up small. When Ds was in 9-12 month stuff their 18-24 clothes were too small for him.

Thanks. Think I've bought things that may be too small! Wishful thinking perhaps!Wink
