Internet cheapie preg test, scared to get hopes up!!! Advice needed!

Hello all!

I had a MC on 1st Sept, and tested negative after approx 3 weeks. Still no period 5 weeks on so did an Internet cheapie on Mon 6th Oct - negative. On a whim just now I did another and got a faint positive!

I have never used Internet cheapies before, just ordered a bunch along with ovulation tests as wishful thinking after MC. Are they reliable?! Could I actually be pregant again so soon?!
Will get a digital test tomorrow but just wondering if I am getting excited about nothing?
Any advice anyone can offer on their experiences of these tests would be so great fully received, thank you xx

I don't have any experience with your situation, but I'd definitely advise you to not get your hopes up until you've used a test that you feel you can trust! I always err on the side of caution over these things, because if you prepare for the worst whatever good happens is a bonus, but if you're very hopeful and excited prematurely the disappointment can be much worse.

Remember that after an MC hormones can be a bit all over the place so a missed period is not unusual. My SIL didn't have a period for about 7 months after hers.

I do hope you're pg though. Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Good luck!!!!
I used a cheapie and totally didn't believe it, so got a clear blue. But this was 5 months after mc and lots of periods so a bit different!
Fingers crossed for you!!! X

When I was pregnant I got my first bfp on an internet cheapie. As far as I know, they're very sensitive but reliable (obviously depends on if you trust the supplier!). They're actually the type of tests GPs use. Good luck!

Thanks ladies! I'm so hopeful but trying not to be! Bought the same brand as the ones the hospital gave me to test for negative after the MC incidentally so really hoping they are accurate but I am just so scared to believe it! Will soon know for sure I guess once my friend arrives Confused

I'm still in shock, have two tests now and just keep looking at them to make sure I've not made a mistake! My DP is back from a work trip tonight and I can't wait to tell him!!! I don't know how I'll not worry the whole time though that I'm going to MC again Confused I have a 7 year old daughter though so I know I can do it, so hopefully this time will go smoothly! Xx

Fab news!! Congratulations!!

Thank you everyone! It's slowly sinking in, but don't think I'll relax enough to enjoy this for a while, with the MC having been so recent and all. Just taking each day as it comes. My DP is thrilled Smile

Thank you! Six weeks today, so still super early. It's hard not to feel excited. Will wait and if I make it to 8 weeks I'll book in with my GP for the midwife (we can't self refer here, GP has to do it for you). Thank you everyone for your kind comments, I hope your all well and your pregnancies are progressing well xxx

Congratulations!!

I was coming on here to say I think the internet cheapies are very reliable. I had lots of BFNs using them when TTCing, had a miscarriage and like you, was pregnant immediately after. I must have used about 20 internet cheapies in the following week and got a BFP for every single one. I'm now 20 weeks :)

clark1234 · 13/10/2014 15:56

I have had a similar situation but I the clearblue came back negative for me. I've had 2 positives with faint lines and 2 negatives, only a few days late but totally confused!

hullabaloo234 · 13/10/2014 18:32

Ahhh congrats zebra! Here's to the next 20 weeks flying byWink don't lose hope Clark, it may be that your hcg is too low for the clear blue to detect? Try again in a couple of days and see. Will keep my fingers crossed for you xxx
