Dear all,

I just joined MN this week and am now totally hooked!!

Found out yesterday I am 4 weeks pregnant. Done three different tests now, all positive. Cycle 7 of trying so v. pleasing.

Thing is, I have had a constant low pain in my pelvic area (same as period pain really) for 4 days now. It sometimes gets a bit worse then better again. That was what made me test. I have not had any bleeding and am otherwise as well as usual. I keep checking to see if I am bleeding!

Is this a normal symptom or should I go to the GP?

Thank you !! I literally spent the whole of my first pregnancy expecting miscarriage at any moment and that feeling is already starting....

I had period pain for almost 20 weeks. I think it's pretty normal.

I think this is quite common - hormones weaken the ligaments, which can be quite painful. I think it's a bit early for that though. I believe it's also common to still get the period-like pains, especially in the very early stages. I know I did.
However, if in any doubt - go to your doctor.
Good luck and congratulations!

Thank you. Think will leave it for now and if ongoing or worse at start of next i will phone the surgery. It does kind of feel like either period pain or ibs type pains.

Hi there

When I was about 4weeks I had the exact same pain as you. It felt very similar to period pain and I was positive I was about to get period. Think it's pretty normal to experience pains like these xx

Morning! I just found out yesterday that I'm 4 weeks too and am also getting that same wave of gentle period pain, especially at night, with no period. First thing that made me take the test to be honest. That plus big hurty boobs, random crying and my skin suddenly getting better (always had slight adult acne). Off to meet doctor today (I've just moved to the area!) so excited! Still yet to tell SO as he's not here until Saturday and didn't want to do it over the phone! Very excited! Good luck to you!

Pain still there but i'm less concern its an ectopic or other disaster now!

I am 6 weeks and had pain when I found out (was 3/4 weeks) Pains have only just stopped the last few days, and I got them on alternating sides. I was a bit freaked out, but it went away :)

Hi, I am 5weeks 5days with my first pregnancy . I have had mild period pain type symptoms since 4 weeks. It comes and goes. I'm so glad these seem normal to others. It's so easy to worry over every twinge. Trying to stay positive. Xxxx

I just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant too. First time for me and I'm 33....same thing, mild period pains but no period.

BlinkAndMiss · 10/10/2014 22:39

Drinking loads of water used to ease those pains when I was pregnant with DS, I always found they were there but a lot worse when I was dehydrated.

Lovely, thank you BlinkandMiss. That's good advice xxx

I have just discovered i am pregnant with number 3, found out yesterday :-). I had been experiencing what i though were period pains as i was due a few days ago, sore boobs and hurrendous abdominal pains at times. I dont remember this with my first over 3years ago and i didnt discover i was pregnant with ds2 until i was actually 20 weeks gone so couldnt say if i had the cramps or not but as we had planned for this last baby, maybe not to happen quite so soon as only started trying 7weeks ago and i am getting married 6weeks before i will be due, but nontheless over the moon. I am, as everyone seems to naturally be experiencing, looking out for bleeding, i actually had a very heavy bleed just after 12weeks with my first child, but all was ok, was due to pollocks i think they said, but in every pregnancy i have always been an over cautious mother, worrying about every twinge. This comes from being told i would never be able to conceive after anorexia some years ago!
I also think the cramps is down to not only my uterus enlarging but also my stomach expanding due to making myself eat more than usual which i have done with all pregnancies, i have been rather lucky in loosing more weight after pregnancy with each child, starting this pregnancy off at a size 6 i hope i will gain a good amount of weight, i gained an awful lot with my first but hardly any with my 2nd, first being a boy, second being a little girl. Looking forward to different symptoms this time as had different with boy to girl.
Good luck every body
