Pushy people - on the verge of killing someone here!

I'm currently 40+6 with first baby, and I'm on the verge of killing a certain someone.

I've kind of gone into myself a bit - like most women at this point, I'm knackered, uncomfortable, acid-y and grumpy. I've let people know that I'll be keeping it fairly low-key until baby arrives, and that I won't be announcing when I've gone into labour - I'll just be letting people know once baby is here and I've had a chance to recover.

Last week, this person (family member) texted me "ARE WE THERE YET?". I was a bit put out (like, yeah, I'm fine, thanks for asking!), but texted back, "Are we bugger!". The next day, I get another text:

"ARE WE THERE YET?"

I ignored it. About eight hours later, I get another text:

"ARE WE THERE YET?"

I responded after an hour or two that I'd have to kill this person if they kept texting me that, and that they'd know when there was something to know. I got the silent treatment for a few days, then a phone call the day before yday. It was friendly enough - I didn't apologise, they didn't apologise, but I made it clear how much stress/pressure I'm currently under, what with second sweep and induction both being booked in already if there's no progress. I reiterated that I'd let people know if/when anything happened, but that I just wanted a peaceful last few days of my pregnancy.

I thought I'd got my point across, but I just got a text:

"ARE WE THERE YET?"

I'm actually on the verge of lighting a flame-thrower here. Are people normally so fucking pushy when it comes to getting news about pregnancy? AIBU to be absolutely livid? I don't think I'm a mumzilla, but come tf on - I'm finding this really rude and insensitive!

Could you get your mum to put out two green balloons and a yellow one? Or maybe a black one with a pirate insignia on it?

Hahahahaha... that is a great idea. I'll pass the suggestion on to her.

women especially seem to want all the gory details

Yes! That's another village thing - there are some vaginas in that village that I know aaaaaaalll about the state of, yet have never met their owners. "Ooh Helen, she had an awful time... xx stitches you know, then an infection, then she ended up with surgery 2 weeks later and you know.. blah blah". Erm, who is Helen?

MIL is driving me mad. Constantly texting ringing and every so often she 'pops' round uninvited may I add. So yea, I can totally relate to this.

Do these people not know that right now our hormones are capable of killing someone Wink I mean honestly, fuck off and let me relax. It's like I'm having her fucking baby

Solidarity, Lizzy - no unexpected visits yet, but my relative has texted another two times this evening because I ignored their text from four hours ago.

I've gone postal and switched my phone off before I text something I (and they) will seriously regret...Angry

ohthegoats that is too too funny. would def be tempted to fabricate a few gory birth details to keep the villagers talking (hopefully there won't be any real ones!)

i also had this haranguing from family members, the ones i least expected. One uncle I hadn't seen in a decade CALLED me to ask! wtf?! Hmm DS1 didn't arrive till 40+12 so was v bored of it by then.

Sent a few of them this link though...

That is awesome, just moved from my village so I guess I had a lucky escape !

We now live in a school where every visitor had to be CRB cleared so no nosy visitors just dropping in for us.....I really am enjoying it
