Vaginal varicose veins - do they go away afterwards?!

Ive got varicose veins down below, lovely. I cant compare as I dont work in a fanny viewing environment, but I think they are fairly bad... lots and lots of tiny purple grapes have taken over my entire labia (tmi, I know).

Do they just go away after the birth? How long does it take? Or might they need topical treatment /gp treatment / other? I cant imagine the banding process I hear about working, as it would take all day and leave me with no fanjo

Any experience from others? I dont mind unpromising truths, just would like to have some idea what to expect and what i might need to do (i'll do whatevers required - darned if am happy to live with the ugly little blighters)...

Oh god, that sound awful. Pregnancy is so un dignified isn't it?! I have no idea but surely they must do? I await someone with knowledge to put our minds at rest!

Yes, they do. I didn't have them as bad as it sounds like you do (for me, the whole area swelled up, but it wasn't separate lumps like grapes), but the swelling went down immediately. I had a c-section, but once I was up and about, walking was so much easier than pre birth as the two sides of my fanjo weren't rubbing together Blush

Pregnancy is not a glamorous state. But it is a short period of time, and I am amazed at how well we recover once the baby is out :)

Yes, I had it badly and they have gone, only to be replaced with piles Blush

Mumsnet at its best Smile i would not usually share this with strangers...

ok thats reassuring, thanks all. I dont think i'd have been picked for playboy anyway, but it'd be good just to return to normal! Fingers crossed. 39 weeks, so on the home stretch, but starting to think about my dilapidated state post pregnancy Confused
