Update to yesterday and contraction question

Update to this thread I posted yesterday www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2203273-Mucas-plug-Warning-graphic-pic

So I went to the maternity after calling them and showed them the picture they took me in too feel my cervix. They said that it was open about 1cm which can be normal and that they want to check me in two days. They asked if I've had any fluid which I haven't and had no pain apart from normal mild everday pain. They told me what they would do if I was in labor (try to stop it or give me shots so baby had a better chance if he decided he didn't want to wait) she said it's important I have solid rest till Friday (24 weeks Friday) she said babies heartbeat is good. She said if I have any abnormal pain bleeding leakage then come back in straight away which is good as I feel more confident now about where to go.

My next question is I woke up this morning with a really bad migraine. I took codeine (I am prescribed codeine for my migraines as they get so bad doctor said it's fine to take as long as I don't over use it and this is the second time using it in pregnancy) apparently it's also the drug they give to people in labor. Anyway when I take this I'm kinda immune to all pain it feels like and I'm dizzy/high feeling. Now I'm having an abnormal ammount of kicks from baby as well as very noticeable pressure on my bladder and more (but considerably smaller bits) of jelly discharge. I might be being my over anxious self but I'm concerned that if I'm having contractions I won't be able to feel them due to the codeine. Is there any other way of telling?

Migraine could be hormonal? If you are concerned go into hospital, it is better to be over cautious in your situation I would say. Good luck and do post again if you need to.

I have had issues with migraines since I started puberty I usually get them due to lack of sleep and stress so having one isn't abnormal. They used to get so bad that I had to have a doctor called out so that's why im prescribed codeine which they don't usually prescribe as it's addictive. I usually try to cope with just paracetamol though but knew this was a bad one. I'm not worried about the migraines as a symptom as their normal to me just worried and have a fear that if I got tummy pains the medication for the migraine would block out my sense of feeling those tummy pains

you probably would feel tightenings too and if contractions I expect the codeine wouldn't mask the pain altogether. Rest like the hospital said, sleep if poss and reassess in an hour or so. Hopefully, your mucous plug will regenerate and you won't go into early labour. my understanding with plugs is that they do come away and regrow sometimes and it doesn't necessarily indicate labour - so fingers crossed for you. I'm sure that the mw's would prefer to see or talk to you if you are worried though, so don't feel funny about giving them a call. best of luck.
