Asking for a friend...

What's the protocol for tonsilitis in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy?

Put up with it until it goes away? Or is it the kind of thing you should see the doctor for because of the pregnancy?

I'm sorry this probably isn't helpful but it probably depends on how bad it is & whether it is viral or bacterial. I would get checked out anyway.

She needs to go to her gp to get it checked out. I had to go on antibiotics to clear mine up when I was in the first trimester.

I get severe recurrent tonsilitis and am expecting to have at least one bout before I pop. If you have white spots on tonsils it's prob bacterial so just go straight to docs for penicillin. If not it's prob viral so will go on its own in about a week. If you are having problems drinking or swallowing you should make appt asap.

In pregnancy, I'd just go straight for a GP appointment. There's no point mucking about.
