First time- we went out to a fancy restaurant and normally I can't finish my meal and ask for it to be packed up. This time I ate everything and 1 hour later I'm like "I'm hungry, can we go and get something to eat" just got a Shock shocked face from DH. The next two days I was constantly hungry and hubby jokingly said something about me being pregnant because I act like one. We had been trying for 27 month..
Next morning DH stayed home as he wasn't feeling good and I took a pregnancy test without telling him as it haunted me all night Grin
Well within 10 sec it was positive. Have now a 12 1/2 month active son

Second time - DH and DS where in bed while I went to make DS bottle (he was 5 month at that time) and had a feeling to take a test while the bottle cooled off, was positive went upstairs into bedroom shocked with a another test and waved it at DH and said "if this one is coming up with two lines as well then we are pregnant" and left the room without waiting for DH response Grin.. Well second one was positive too.
Currently 37+3 weeks with baby #2. Who apparently will be a girl.(got it confirmed 5 times)

I did a test 'for fun' as I was a few days late, but didn't expect anything really as I had been told the week before by my gynae that I needed a lap & dye to sort out my tubes. When it came up with a second line, I phoned my husband at work and basically said 'I think I've just had a positive test, not sure what's going on'. He suggested I'd buy another test, different brand and I did the test when he was home in the evening. Also positive.

We didn't quite believe it, but my GP told me to contact the gynae for a 6 week scan as I was at risk for ectopic. When we saw a wee dot on the screen at that scan, we believed it a bit more. Seeing the heartbeat at 8 weeks made it even more real and we're going for the 12-week scan on Friday.

This was our third round of IVF so we both agreed in advance that we would do a HPT the day before our bloods were taken so we knew what we were facing. After two failed cycles I was convinced I would see one pathetic line on the FRER so was crying before I even took the test.

I peed in the 'wee glass' (every HPT had been taken from this glass for the past 4 years - it HAS been washed!) and we both sat on the side of the bath while I dipped the test then handed it to DH while I sobbed quietly for 3 minutes. DH turned it over and burst into tears, I assumed it was bad news so started crying harder. He then interrupted me and managed to get our "no, no, no. Look. There's another line!"

We both cried for about half an hour then ate breakfast. DH left for work and I spent all day at home. He arrived home with flowers and another FRER because he wanted to know it was really true.

22 weeks later and baby boy kicked DH in the face last night for the first time as he said goodnight to him, as he does every night. Tears all over again.

Still very much on cloud 9 Grin

First time, I went upstairs and said 'umm, you better look at this' and handed him the CBD. We'd only started trying a couple of weeks beforehand and neither of us expected it to happen so quick - completely blindsided.

This time, again, still on our first cycle but had convinced myself that DD had been altogether too easy so had been telling him that this one could take months. Went back upstairs (both times he was still in bed!) and wondered aloud at how DD would enjoy being a big sister....Totally didn't get the hint. I had to hand him the test.

We were planning a Saturday night with lots of wine - I pee'd on a stick just in case and ran downstairs excitedly to tell him we have to cancel the wine. He said "why?", I handed him the stick, he was really pleased Grin but the next words out of his mouth were "my hand is wet... is that piss? " (did I mention that I was excited? my aim might have been "off") lol Grin

The day I thought it would be 'appropriate' to do a test happened to be my husbands birthday. I did the test early, saw it was positive, then stuck it in a gift bag and handed it to him casually. A bit gross, but worth it for his reaction!

IShallCallYouSquishy · 07/10/2014 14:18

DD: looked at the results on the stick together. Had been ttc for 6 months

DS: "pause the telly a minute" deep breath "I'm pregnant" DH- "you're joking" Me- "nope" Let's just say DS was a wonderful surprise gift who was obviously meant to be Wink

KittyandTeal · 07/10/2014 14:20

First I woke him up at 4am and told him he was allowed to have a drink that evening.

This pregnancy - I tested in the gym toilet and text DH a photo saying dd is going to be a big sister. It was a bit of a surprise for us both

TheScenicRoute · 07/10/2014 19:52

Jbee, that is hilarious, I just laughed out loud!! Lol

For me, 6th round of IVF (and last!) but I had started weeing every 10-15 mins at work, there was definitely more coming out of me than was going in!! I knew it was weird and this was 11days after egg transfer. I just knew.

I did a test the next morning and it was positive! When my OH got home we had a brew and I causually got out a thank you card for the clinic and said I wanted us to send it before our official testing date because I might not feel like sending one after the official test (implying it's likely to be yet another negative), then I handed the pregnancy test over wrong side up so it looked like a (albeit weird looking) pen for my OH to sign the card, and then my OH squinted and held it up to the light and squinted some more.... It was a VERY faint positive.

We were both very subdued and calm and quiet. Positive tests didn't happen for us and it was such a big change for our expectations. We couldn't believe it! I'm now 19+5 and I STILL can't believe that I'm lucky enough to STILL be pregnant. So very very lucky! :)

tiggy I had a little cry for you. Congrats!! Smile

Cullercoats88 · 07/10/2014 20:29

I fell pregnant about 3 weeks after coming off the pill, I didn't feel normal but thought it was just after effects of being on the pill for 7yrs. I brought a test on Friday, but I was convinced I was pregnant, told my other half, he was so excited, the following morning I got up 7am exactly and immediately it came up saying pregnant 1-2 weeks, we laughed and laughed. My hubby was delighted at his super-sperm. Haha

pippinleaf · 07/10/2014 21:20

It's special enough just to tell him when you've done the test. Why 'bells and whistles' at such a lovely moment?
