36 week appointment

Hi ladies

I have another question (sorry!)

I have a 36 week midwife appointment later this week- is she likely to perform any sort of internal examination? Need to know whether to shave my legs or not Blush If not, when is the first time I'm likely to have one in the normal course of care?

Thanks in advance Grin

I didn't have any internals performed until I was overdue, then I had a sweep which I was fully aware was going to happen before the appointment because my m/w asked me if I wanted it done. Apart from that my only other internals were when I was in labour, but I don't know if it varies between areas and/or midwives

No. In a normal, healthy pregnancy she won't. The first time they will do an internal is if doing a sweep. When they offer those varies by area, but generally when you are overdue. Or in labour if you consent and that happens first.

Oh, I'm assuming you in the UK? In other countries, all bets are off. US doctors seem to love sticking their hands up there, for example Hmm

Sorry Penguins, I should have said I'm in the UK.

That's a relief to hear- I don't have to worry about defuzzing just yet....would be bad timing with the sudden change in weather. I need my leg hair to keep warm Wink

Thanks all!
