You're being silly....

LadyTophamHatt · 28/09/2006 07:13

Sorry, couldn't resist that.

Doctors never examined me either and I'm PG with No4.

The tests can't give false +ve, if it says you're PG then you're PG.

sandcastles · 28/09/2006 07:14

I felt exactly the same...all the way upto the first scan i was wiorried that ey would say "there's nothing there...go home"

My dr didn't examine, or do bloods or test, so all i had to go on was the 4 test I did. They were very faint too.

thank you i know im being silly but im such a hypocondriact my head gets carried away with me!!

If a dr examined you at six weeks, chances are he/she'd feel nothing. Also if he/she did examine you and then you subsequently miscarried, would you wonder if the examination was responsible?

Home pg tests are as accurate as the ones the GP has access to.

You are pregnant.

throckenholt · 28/09/2006 07:26

I think that feeling is very common - especially if symptoms you have early on disappear. But unless you start bleeding heavily chances are you and your baby are doing fine.

Hopefully you will get a scan in a few weeks which will reassure you.

Relax - you can't change anything by worrying about it anyway .

mumandlovingit · 28/09/2006 07:35

i was exactly the same, infact i didnt even have an examination with any of my pregnancies until later on in the pregnancy/labour.the tests are positive therefore, congratulations, you're pregnant.i was exactly the same with my second pregnancy because i had a mc with the first.got to the scan and everything went fine.im sure it's just hormones and nerves.i didnt believe it myself until i was throwing up everywhere and began to put on weight and had a scan picture of the baby just to prove to myself that yes, i was pregnant.everything will be fine.try to relax.

lubella · 28/09/2006 07:41

I was exactly the same, it didn't help that my Mother was very vocal and said to me she couldn't believe the Doctor did not perform another test, that is the first thing they do blah blah and didn't really believe me until my first scan!! I ended up riging a Maternity until in tears and they told me it was standard not to examine or re-test...you are not being silly at all - but if the test says positive you are PG don't worry

xx

still worrying myself about it woundering weather to go and buy another pregnancy test to put my mind at rest

OP posts:
Twiglett · 30/09/2006 08:46

if you want to buy a pg test do it

but a positive test means you are pregnant so it won't tell you something you don't know already

no doctor pays any attention to any woman who says she has a positive pregnancy test .. they just book them in with midwife for around the 12 week mark

it is quite a let down isn't it .. you expect the big wheels of medicine to start turning at the first sign and some professional tests to be put into play .. but it just DOESN'T HAPPEN

edie123 · 01/10/2006 16:29

Follow your instincts. I am sure it is fine but see doc and tell him how you are feeling. You are the best jugde. Pg test will still say + but talk to a doc xx

SpaceCadet · 01/10/2006 16:33

a friend of mine w\s like you, convinced that when she went for her scan they would say, dont be silly mrs x, you are not pregnant!, however a pos test is a pos test, you are preg, do you get other symptoms ie sickness etc? if so, it will soon seem real enough!

incy · 01/10/2006 16:35

Could you consider paying for a dating scan? Private clinics do them from 6 weeks onwards (but say 8 weeks plus better as more clear/see heartbeat etc.) It costs £50 but may be worth it if you are really unhappy. Again, I would honestly say that if a pregnancy test is positive you are pregnant - the hormone has to be there to show up but probably won't reassure you. big hug.

incy · 01/10/2006 16:41

Here is a link to fetal mediucine centre in london - they do a scan from 5 weeks and costs £100 fetal viability scan Not sure if near to you.

divastrop · 01/10/2006 20:41

i was the same and this is my 5th baby!i kept getting pg tests, those 99p ones.i did about 6 that were positive.i had my booking appt at 7 weeks and all i could think was what a waste of time it would be if there turned out not to be a baby in there.
i think most of us on the march ante-natal thread were terrified of our 10-12 week scans, thinking there bwould be nothing in there after all,so what ur feeling is prtty normal i'd say.
congratulations,btw!

alexh · 02/10/2006 11:03

I am JUST the same. Am 5 weeks pregnant, have DS 15 months and can't remember being this worried the first time as I was exhausted from 4+0 ie as soon as I had missed a period and done a positive test. so am pranoid that am not feeling tired/sick enough........

Piffle · 02/10/2006 11:05

I'm professional
You're pregnant

jabberwocky · 02/10/2006 11:08

Awww, it's too bad they don't do a standard 8 week scan in the UK. It was very nice to hear them say, Yes, I can see the heartbeat on the screen.

As everyone else says, If you get a positive, you're pregnant. I do love those ClearBlue digitals, btw.

Anyway, big congratulations!!!!

emzickle · 02/10/2006 11:09

congratulations! x
