I'm 9wks pregnant and I have neuralgia. burning throbbing pain in my head (scalp) and its working up to electric shock style pain Sad

i normally get it twice a year March/April and October/November. i lived on syndol (when you could get it) and last time I had 2 weeks of agony.
i've been crying tonight at the thought of two weeks without drugs. i will go crazy. The pain wakes me up in the night and i count the seconds between shocks.

has anyone suffered from neuralgia during pregnancy? i spoke to the doctor this time last year and she wrote me a prescription for paracetamol - i was disgusted - paracetamol is the first port of call - why would she think i didn't try it? i was in so much pain i left the Dr's in tears, got a filling replaced (no help) and suffered it by taking paramol from the chemists.

its so sore i can't think logically. any advice would be gratefully received Smile

:( Poor you, jbee. Neuralgia is nasty. I wonder why your doctor isn't prescribing the type of drugs needed to tackle neuralgia pain (tricyclic anti depressants or anti seizure drugs) as paracetamol will do absolutely nothing. As will anything you can buy over the counter.

How odd that you get it twice a year for a couple of weeks. I wonder what triggers that happening?

I'm not sure what you can take when pregnant, but I'd go and see a different gp as a first port of call as some are far more clued in about neuralgia than others.
