How much weight did you gain?

Pregnant with no. 2. First time round I put on 3 stone. This time round I'm a stone heavier to start with.

Just wondering how much weight others put on during first and subsequent pregnancies?

I'm 40+ weeks and at one point had put on 5kg, now have lost a bit and it's 3kg. I started off with a BMI of 31 though, so 'fat'... and haven't had an appetite at all for months. Someone told me today to be careful while breast feeding, cos I might lard up then. I'm extremo wobbly though, lost all muscle tone.

OhMjh · 02/10/2014 20:20

Probably not much help but I started at 58kg and I'm now at 64kg at 34 weeks pregnant. I think it has a lot to do with genetics and your build too - I'm pretty much all bump and massive mummy boobs where as a woman from my NCT class had only put on 2kg but seemingly everywhere BUT her bump.

mummybare · 02/10/2014 20:28

First time I put on nearly 5 stone. I eventually lost 4 of them before getting pregnant again two years later. Second time I put on less than 2 stone and lost it in 2-3 weeks.

I didn't behave that differently, but my diet's much better now that I have a toddler to set a good example for. And running round after DC1 rather than sitting at a desk all day stuffing my face must have had an effect!

Fairywhitebear · 02/10/2014 20:30

Far too much and paying the price now :(

Hmm. Was 9st 7 when got pg with DC1. Put on 2 and a half stone. Got back down to 10st 5 before I got pg with DC2. Ballooned to 13 stone 4.

Baby is now 5 months and I'm still 11stone 11. Could honestly cry. Hate being fat (I'm only small)

I do think subsequent pg weight is tougher to lose. Plus with a baby and toddler you don't get any rest/sleep and you need sleep to lose weight.

Skiingmaniac · 02/10/2014 20:33

Was 9stone when I got preg with dc1.
Put on about 3.5 stone. Very lucky as it came off quite easily and was pretty much prepreg weight when I got preg again when dc1 was 3 months old! Was very I'll during second preg so only put on 8lbs for whole pregnancy!
Very different pregnancies

HappyAsASandboy · 02/10/2014 20:40

I put on 10kg last pregnancy (a twin pregnancy). Lost it all by the six week check despite eating six meals a day (Breastfeeding twins means you can eat a lot and still lose weight!).

No idea how much I have put on this time. Will weigh myself closer to 40 weeks so I can see how it compares to last time (single pregnancy this time).

In both pregnancies I have got slimmer all over except for the bump. My arms, legs and face really slim down spite eating quite a lot, but I think that's down to giving up alcohol Blush

Gennz · 02/10/2014 21:07

I'm nearly 32 weeks and have put on 13kg/28.5lbs so far. I put on 10kgs in the first trimester - was really nauseous and ate a lot of crap. Am hoping not to exceed about 16kgs but I have no idea how much I'll put on between now and the baby being born!

All of my weight is bump and thighs. Legs are disgusting, like tree trunks! On the plus side my arms and upper body seem to be much slimmer which I put down to giving up booze too Happy

WorraLiberty · 02/10/2014 21:10

Just a few pounds over the weight of the baby and the same with the subsequent ones. Lost it about a week after the births.

OutDamnSpot · 02/10/2014 21:14

I gained a stone (sorry can't do metric) in pg1. Dropped 1.5stone by about 6 months after but gained that back in pg2. Only dropped a stone so back to where I was pre-DC when got preg with dc3.
Gained 1.5 stone in that pg and 3 years on have still not shifted the last 0.5 stone.

I'm 32 weeks witnessed #5 and up a stone and a half. I've always put on between 2-3 stone and then lost it within a reasonable amount of time. I do eat loads of crap though , if I behaved it would be less but my cake and pastry addiction knows know bounds!

ApocalypseThen · 02/10/2014 22:23

I'm worried about it. I'm a little overweight to start with, very short and 40. I think if I eat as I'd like, I'd not only end up looking like a little elephant, I'd probably have some health problems.

Early days, but I'm trying to eat a really healthy diet, trying to stick to the foods on the WW filling and healthy list. Not least because I don't want to give baby my atrocious eating habits which my mam credits to her eating during pregnancy.

Syd35 · 03/10/2014 07:49

Thanks for sharing ladies. I read somewhere that 25 - 35lbs is the norm, seems we are all quite different! Smile

Ok im classed as obese as i have a bmi of 37 at my first midwife appointment I weighted 100 kilo at a doctors appointment this week i weighed 95 kilo I seem to be losing weight at the moment but i am only 13 weeks! I have not suffered with morning sickness just trying to be abit more healthy and cut down my portion sizes as i was eating way to much. I will probs start to gain some soon!

cathpip · 03/10/2014 08:03

I have gained 5 stone with each pregnancy (3dc and dreadful water retention). Have formula fed two and breast fed one. I have found that the weight falls off quicker with breast feeding, dc3 is 6 months now and I have 5lb left to go. Dc3 is also a shred fan, apparently mummy jumping round the living room is hilarious :)

1lov3comp5 · 03/10/2014 08:38

Started at 9st before both, put in 2st with dd and it was all gone after 2 weeks (not in a good way, bf took everything I had and I gave up after a week). With DS I put in 1.5 stone and it was gone between 2-4 weeks later, 6 years between pregnancies if that helps at all Smile

MultipleMama · 03/10/2014 10:40

Not sure about my last pregnancies written down somewhere.

However, this time, I'm 24 weeks and so far I've gained 8lbs. I started off at 128lbs.

neversleepagain · 03/10/2014 11:22

22 kgs in my twin pregnancy
