Discharge during pregnancy

Hi, I am only 7 weeks pregnant and as it's my first I'm not really too sure what to expect, but this morning I had some pinkish discharge and automatically thought the worst! Can anyone tell me of their experiences with this and if it's normal or do I need to be contacting my midwife? Thank you

I hate to be a doom monger (or mongrel, as auto correct would prefer), but I had something similar at 7 weeks. It started light on a Tuesday, I miscarried by Saturday.

However, my GP had been sure it was a side effect of thrush (I was on antibiotics for a water infection). Also, I had been sure that something was not right for a few weeks since I had no symptoms whatsoever.

I would say, contact your midwife. Prepare yourself for the small chance that it may be bad news.

On the upside, I'm now pregnant again, five weeks later.

You can sometimes get bleeding as the baby is implanting I wouldn't worry just yet. I've had a small amount of spotting at 10 & 14wks which was unexplainable I contacted the epu at the hospital who gave me a scan saw a little bean with a strong heartbeat. For now I wouldn't panic if you're not in pain or bleeding heavily then likely hood is everything is fine. Keep an eye on it and get some rest maybe contact your epu for some advice they'll probably tell you to come in for a reassuring scan if it continues. Fingers crossed for you everything is ok.

Bleeding is obviously a cause for concern as in some cases it does end in miscarriage but equally many cases of bleeding don't.
Ring gp and ask to be referred to epau and they should give you a scan, I had pinky/brown discharge it was bleeding coming from my cervix the hormones and extra blood flow meant sex was causing some "roughing" to it and the bleeding, baby was all good two weeks ago at scan though hope everything is ok

I would speak to your MW or local EPU as you may need an early scan.

FWIW I had something similar at 10 weeks along with abdominal pains and even some spots of red blood on a tissue, albeit very small amounts. I went for an early scan and saw the HB and an active little baby thankfully. I am now 30 weeks and all seems to be going fine. Hopefully it will be the same for you too.
