Bleeding at 11 wks?

Hello ladies... I'm new to mumsnet so I hope I'm doing this right!!!

I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant, but I keep bleeding. When I'm not bleeding, I checked my cervical position and it was so high I couldn't reach it. Was just wondering what the bleeding could be? I haven't had my first scan yet, I have it Tuesday next week. I can't wait!

Thank you in advanced x

Butterfly - get yourself to an EPU either by self referral or through your GP.
THIS MAY BE INNOCENT - but you should always getting bleeding in pregnancy checked.
I hope everything works out ok.

butterflyFairy1 · 01/10/2014 11:48

Hi LinaDee - thank you for replying!!!

Hm, what do you think it could be? I've had bleeding on and off since 7 weeks, spotting like, but this time it's a bit heavier, actually going onto the pad I'm wearing (sorry that's a bit explicit!). I don't know whether just to wait until Tuesday, x

It could be totally harmless but it could also be a misscariage or an etopic pregnancy which if that is the case you need to get seen asap. I would go in now because if it's a threatened misscariage it can be stopped. Call nhs 111 and explain and they will book you in in epu for a few hours time that's what they did with me x

LinaDee · 01/10/2014 12:00

Butterfly - it could be anything.
From being on here for a while, some women have bleeding/spotting in their pregnancies that turn out to be innocent at all. (Including me - I had spotting at 5 weeks during my current pregnancy and I'm now 9 weeks)
However - I did have bleeding at 11 weeks in my last pregnancy and unfortunately my baby had stopped growing at 9 weeks.

Please understand I'm not saying this to upset or worry you but the best thing you can do is get to an EPU for a quick reassurance scan. Since you've had bleeding, they should not expect you to wait until Tuesday.

I hope you're little bean is well and you are a lady who happens to have light bleeding during your pregnancy.

butterflyFairy1 · 01/10/2014 12:15

LinaDee - I rang my EPU after I saw your message straight away and they don't take self referrals. I have to go to the doctors and be seen that way, which is longer :( I understand the importance now of being seen. I don't have any pain or anything, so maybe they won't see me as an emergency.

Zia11, I will ring NHS 111. Do you think it's worth going down to casualty and seeing if they can see me there? That way it will be instant and I won't have to wait a couple of hours!!

Butterfly have you had your booking in appointment? If so and you have a midwife then give her a call and she can make an appointment at your local EPU. Really hope everything is fine xx

butterflyFairy1 · 01/10/2014 13:18

NewEraNewMindset, I have an appointment with the midwife Friday, my first one! My doctors are shocking and couldn't fit me in til then. I found out I was pregnant 3 and a half weeks ago, and they couldn't/wouldn't fit me in til Friday. Then a scan Tuesday when I'm 12 weeks. X

Either phone nhs or go to a and e.
Tbh - this may be controversial but Id be bending the truth slightly to be seen if I had to.
Let us know how you get on OP.

NewEraNewMindset · 01/10/2014 14:00

Normally they book in around 8 weeks so I'm surprised they were happy to make you wait. I know some EPUs do accept self referrals. Might be worth a google and ringing around.

butterflyFairy1 · 01/10/2014 14:34

LinaDee & NewEra, I have an appointment tomorrow morning at 8am. I went in and they said they couldn't scan me today because even though I have a self referral I still need to make an appointment and the earliest appoint available was tomorrow morning at 8am. I'm nervous now :(

Just checked again whether I'm bleeding heavily or not and I have a bit of blood the about size of a 50p piece, then little spots. It's not heavy heavy but I'm worried now?

Oh darling at least that's earlier than Friday. The fact you have no cramping is a good sign. Massive good luck for tomorrow, let us know xx

butterflyFairy1 · 01/10/2014 15:28

Babiecakes11, Im too agitated to relax now :( might just have a nap because I'm shattered lol. Thank you for sharing your story with me, I'm hoping that my little tadpole is okay!!! Thing is, is this isn't my first bleed, it's my second... I had spotting at 7 and a half weeks but that was so little that I barely even noticed it. This is much bigger in comparison with that :(

NewEraNewMindset, I'm glad I don't have to wait til Friday, it was Friday evening (4:30) that I had my appointment so Now I'm first thing tomorrow so it's like a day and a half difference!!! I'll let you know, thank you for responding xxx

Butterfly - I know how hard it is, but please try to relax. I'm glad you'll be seen tomorrow and your midwife will hopefully be able to put your mind at rest.
Thinking of you

cheshirem2b · 01/10/2014 16:33

I hope everything is ok for you. I had bleeding (spotting) at 7-8 weeks and saw the EPU who saw our baby smudgey (that's it's nickname) with a good heartbeat. No reasons for the bleed and just one of those things. I am now 27 weeks tomorrow so it can all be ok but well done on getting an appointment for tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you! Thanks

butterflyFairy1 · 01/10/2014 17:12

I haven't been doing much today LinaDee - only been to the bank and back. So I'm relaxing physically but not mentally!! I just keep wondering whether all this is a dream :(

Cheshirem2b, mines a little more than spotting I think. There are about three/four 20p size spots on my pad, which is more than the last time. :( Im hoping tadpole (that's our nickname hahaha!) has stayed at put!!

Thank you ladies. I have my mum for support - me & my partner sadly split 2 months ago.

I'm absolutely heartbroken :(

Oh butterfly, it is such a difficult time. My heart goes out to you just now.
I know there is nothing I can say to make this better but there are plenty of people who can support you through this.

cheshirem2b · 02/10/2014 15:52
