You need to start taking this seriously and get to the doctors instead of wasting time on a forum. If your father is violent you need to deal with that too and talk to the doctor about your fears. They will be able to refer you to the necessary authorities. Please get your head out of the sand and start to take responsibility for the situation you have got yourself into. I know it's tough but I am thinking about the bigger picture here and that is the health of you and the child.

OrangeyTulips · 02/10/2014 11:15

I know you were planning to save some money before you told your parents but HeccaBecca you really must get medical advice as LouMum says. We can give you plenty of advice about the smaller matters such as what clothes to have and nappies etc but we are not medically qualified. I would love to be able to give you a big hug but all I can do from thousands of miles away is to plead with you to see a doctor and to say I am thinking of you.

heccabecca97 · 02/10/2014 14:32

I want to i really do. I dnt wanna risk the babys life at all. Can i get an ultrasound or really a check up in general? And the money im about to make a good bit next week. Im not trying to avoid goin to the doctor or anything i just want to be more on top of things first.

heccabecca97 · 02/10/2014 14:34

Wat i meant by asking about getting an ultrasound or checkup meant can i get one and not let my parents find out right this minute or will it show up on insurance?

Do you live anywhere near Selmer Rebecca?

LeftRightCentre · 02/10/2014 14:40

You need to get to a women's clinic. Look up your nearest county hospital website and there should be one.

OrangeyTulips · 02/10/2014 14:41

if you do have to pay to see a doctor they may agree to wait before billing you.

OrangeyTulips · 02/10/2014 14:42

or just go to a public clinic and then switch to insured care when you've told ypr parents.

OrangeyTulips · 02/10/2014 14:44

you will feel much more reassured yourself after seeing a doctor. I know you want the very best for your baby and that you'll be a loving Mom.

smokeandglitter · 02/10/2014 14:50

Can you phone your doctor and ask re billing? They can hopefully give answers. In the meantime, go to a chemist and get folic acid as it is easy to get over the counter - you can't wait to take it because it's the first trimester it is important in. I don't want to worry you but it's important to have medical attention. Smile

Do you have ideas around conception dates? The further on you are the more important it is you are seen quickly. There are some helplines here that can give you further advice, I just don't know enough about the American system! www.teenhealthandwellness.com/static/hotlines#TeenPregnancy

OrangeyTulips · 02/10/2014 15:14

I agree with smokeandglitter - folic acid is really important. You should be able to get it cheaply from CVS or other stores.

PillForgettingIdiot · 02/10/2014 19:11

Please get to a doctor Rebecca. It is really, really important.

Do you have a Planned Parenthood near you?

sykadelic · 03/10/2014 00:15

Here's the info I posted on the other thread.

Here's a pamphlet that's TN specific with some good numbers to call, including information on teen pregnancy and TennCare Medicaid. www.tn.gov/tccy/om-rr-08.pdf

I'd try and go somewhere like Planned Parenthood to get pamphlets and information for what's available in your state.

There's a few things you'll want to look into. The first is medical insurance. If you're on your parents health insurance, great, but if not you can get low income medicaid (depending on income). There's also emergency medicaid to help with the actual labor etc.

You'll also want to look into WIC and a few other support programs. WIC provides formula and a lot of other essentials. A great support.

As for whether your doctor is allowed to tell your parents, I had to double check. Here's from info from HIPAA (here: www.guttmacher.org/pubs/journals/3608004.html ) which isn't very promising. It appears it depends on the doctor and whether your parents have previously given you privacy permission.

Hope that helps!

How are you doing, Becca?

heccabecca97 · 03/10/2014 17:50

Im doing good. Just trying to stay unstressed right now. Ive almost lost my entire appetite :( so tht makes me nervous. But this weekend im gonna go to the doctors and get checked.

OrangeyTulips · 03/10/2014 18:12

Rebecca, that's such a wise decision. I'm sure the doctor/midwife will be kind to you. As for your appetite, I'm not a doctor but it might be that you feel fuller at the moment as your uterus rises upwards. The doctor will put your mind at ease this weekend. Thanks

OrangeyTulips · 03/10/2014 18:14

I was thinking of you and baby these past few days. Thanks Stay unstressed. Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAYGrin

heccabecca97 · 03/10/2014 18:26

Thank u :) i really appreciate everything. Im so grateful.

hartmel · 03/10/2014 18:39

First of all congrats on your pregnancy
Secondly Happy Birthday! Please enjoy this day and don't stress to much..

I agree with all the other ones go and see a doctor ASAP!
I'm also from America but in Canada. Do you have a walk in clinic you could go. They could at least see/feel how far along you might be. And get everything going. Order a ultrasound.
Regarding the no appetite, that sounds to me like that your uterus has grown quiet a bit already. I think it was for me in the 14-20 week that I lost appetite for a while.
And I'm now on baby no 2

OrangeyTulips · 03/10/2014 18:43

you are very welcome Rebecca

OrangeyTulips · 03/10/2014 18:47

I'm a Mom to a 5 year old boy. I'm Irish and I live in Scotland.Smile

heccabecca97 · 03/10/2014 20:31

How old were u when u had ur son OrangeyTulips?

OP posts:
smokeandglitter · 03/10/2014 20:42

Glad you're ok, Becca, been thinking of you! Eating little and often is the best way, but I'm sure nerves aren't helping with your appetite, bless you. Perhaps also try soups and things that are nutritious but won't feel too heavy.

Well done for planning to see the doctor! That's really brave of you and so important for you and the baby! Don't forget the folic acid (Yes, I'm still going on about it! Grin )

Happy Birthday! Flowers
