Am I being naive?

Hi there
I'm currently 38+5 with DC2. My labour with DS (21 months ago) was v quick, comparatively speaking: I'd had a growth scan that morning at 39+3 where he was not engaged and in a posterior position, and was told that he wasn't likely to come any time soon. Four hours later, my waters broke. He then engaged, moved to a good position and was born less than 6 hours after my first contraction (I was in active labour for less than two hours).

I keep on expecting a similar labour with DC2: i.e. quick and before due date. I also have a family history of v quick second labours (my mother's was 90 minutes and my aunt's 45 mins). Am I being a bit naive?? How did your second labour compare to your first?

My first I had no signs of labour at all until contractions started at 12pm, by 12.30 they were two mins apart and DD was born at 4.40 on her due date so less than 5 hrs from 1st contraction( waters went just before pushing)
DD2 waters went on Tuesday eveningat 38+6, went in weds morning for a sweep. No signs at all so was taken in weds night at midnight to be induced. Ward was v busy so they couldn't induce me, started contracting at 3.40am and DD was born at 4.55am so extremely quick, quite glad I was already in hospital tbh!

Sorry to say but I had a labour very much like yours with DS1. I don't like to admit to myself but I was a teeny bit smug about it.

Family history of quick second labours etc...

Let's just say DS2 was very, very different. And I am not quite so smug anymore.

Every pregnancy and every birth is different. Just keep your fingers crossed!

First labour at 39+6. 6 hrs from first contraction to baby arriving. Second labour was 3.5 hours from start to finish on due date.

Second was more intense than first and contractions were 2-3 mins apart from the get go.

Hope it all goes well.

Just to update, DD was born the day after I posted this at 38+6. V similar labour to DS: waters started leaking so off to hospital we went. 3 hours from first contraction (4 hours from waters starting to go) and she was here! She was posterior, which I think slowed her down somewhat, but I went from 4cm to her being cuddled in my arms in 1.5 hours. I am absolutely besotted and enjoying her newborn deliciousness!!
