Hi, just wondering what peoples experiences of reflexology in late pregnancy is, I'm 36 weeks and struggling to sleep so thought it might be relaxing. Any experiences welcomed. Thank you in advance. Smile

I had three sessions in my last pregnancy and I loved it. So relaxing it was nice to have some quiet time just for me.

I had it in the hope of bringing on labour as I was booked to be induced on my due date. I did need to be induced in the end but as induction goes I had minimal intervention and when things got going they happened very quickly I don't know if this can be attributed to the reflexology but like I say it was a great experience anyway!

Thank you, I'm not too worried about inducing labour but I'm pretty uncomfortable, particularly at night so I think I might try it out! Smile

Reflexology can help restore hormonal balances hence alleviating many pregnancy related symptoms. In many cases reflexology has been proved to decrease stress levels and more energy as well better sleep. It is considered safe during pregnancy, provided all is well with your pregnancy. However, there are some conditions in which it is contraindicated. So it is always better to consult your midwife before starting the same. Always make sure to check that your reflexologist is a qualified in maternity reflexology before you start treatments. Reflexology can even help you post labour, with postnatal depression, new stresses and anxieties and help regain energy lost.

I had it last time at about 40 weeks as my mum booked me in for a treat. It was lovely. My ankles felt about 20 years younger! I will def be having it again this time.
