Trivial scan question - about not finding out the gender

Had a 34 week scan today to check something relating to dh's existing health condition, all was fine with baby, no sign that he/she has inherited it. So really pleased and it was great to see baby again.

We asked not to find out the gender, I don't want to know but I'm really curious as to which it is! The sonographer told us not to look at the screen for a section of the scan where she looked at baby's legs etc, because apparantly baby was in a position where it was obvious which it was.

So my question is, would that make you think that it's more likely to be a boy rather than a girl, because it's easier to see boy bits rather than girl's, or would you think that the sonographer was just being professional and making sure we didn't see anything as we'd requested?

I have no real preference as to which we have, and would like a surprise, but now I can't stop thinking that we must be having a boy, or else she'd have let us look at the screen! I know no-one can tell me which it is, I'm just wondering if other people's thinking would be skewed by this or whether I'm being an irrational pregnant person!

We wanted to know - Sonographer at 20week scan told me they'd be able to confirm gender (she couldn't get a good view but thought it was a girl) at my 28 & 34 week growth scans. She said in thoses scans you don't have to really know what your looking at to see girl bits (wed clearly see for ourselves), the outer labia are apparently quite obviously that point.

So I'd say just as likely your having a girl as a boy.

*Quite obvious at that point in pregnancy

I'd have thought they said not to look as you'd have been able to tell if there were boy bits there or not so it's still 50/50 in my opinion. :)

Thanks guys - good points. Most people find out at 20 weeks so at 34 weeks things would be much more obvious. And yes, absence of seeing boy bits would be a bit of a giveaway too!

Ive just had a 28 week scan and I could visibly see his bits on the screen! The sonographer even said well hes definately not shy! X

I just had a 28 week scan, and it was very obvious to me that this baby is a girl (I also had that confirmed by the consultant doing the scan - at 20 weeks they had said "probably a girl" but couldn't really get a good enough view). I have boys already, and with my second DS we found out what we were having at a 32 week scan, at which point his boy bits were unmissable. So I'd say that it genuinely doesn't mean anything, scans at this stage are so clear that either is obvious if you get the right angle.
