10 weeks with a huge tummy. Anyone else feeling like a balloon so early on?

I know, I know, I know, I'm not the first person to whinge about this.

I'm only 10 weeks, with dc #2 and I'm bloated as hell. I'm like a sodding balloon. I think I look like I did at about 20 weeks with ds. With ds, I did the cheesy first pregnancy thing of taking a photo of my tummy every week from about 12 weeks. At 12 weeks with ds I still had a flat tummy. Although weigh less than I did then, but my tummy is way bigger. I suppose it's because I no longer have much abdominal muscles. And maybe because I'm a bit thinner than I was before there's nowhere to hide it.

And I feel full of gas. I no longer can eat large meals (well I still do but keep regretting it) because I feel so bloated after. Is there something I can do about this bloating? Like avoiding carbs or something miserable and joyless like that? I'm pooing daily but still feel a bit constipated, or not empty afterwards. What can I do that won't fill me up with gas? I tried prunes and figs but they just blow me up with wind.

I'm assuming this is just me being bloated. It can't be an actual bump. I'm certain my dates are right ( 13 days to go till my scan) and well, surely there's only one in there, right? Do people really show this early on second pregnancies? Really?

Ladies, please share your stories of looking pregnant while trying to keep it quiet. Or if you have any advice for bloating etc that would be great.

Or just join me for a whinge/rant. Grin

I was hugely bloated from about 7 weeks. I found it quite uncomfortable and was in maternity clothes sooner because of how distended my tummy was! You can get degassing tablets (sorry, can't recall what they're called) but I found a good back rub got the gas up best. On the plus side, my husband is now a dab hand at rubbing my back to burp me! Somewhere around 14-16 weeks it started to convert from a squishy, bloated tummy to a proper, firmer pregnancy bump (I'm now 32 weeks). Hope this helps.

I am - if I put on maternity clothes I look about 5 months pregnant when I am only 11 weeks. I think at some point in my last pregnancy around 12 weeks the bloat went down but it doesn't seem to have happened yet! This time people guessed at 8 weeks when before only 1 person guessed at 16 weeks. So much for hoping to keep it quite till closer to 20 weeks!

I was just the same as Dr Blondie, maternity pants at 7 weeks and then a firm tummy at about 16 weeks. It's bloody awful! I had people at work asking me if I was pregnant at 9 weeks!

mrshjb · 28/09/2014 08:37

I was the same. My normal jeans were too uncomfortable from about 5-6 weeks so I just started wearing baggy dresses and leggings. To be honest I'm 22+4 and I definitely still bloat up a bit after eating. I've always struggled with this kind of thing so it's not surprising but very annoying. I worry about just how huge I'm going to be later down the line!

Good luck!!

Yup - I was asked at 10 weeks if I was pg!

Fibre, fibre, fibre - I had awful constipation at that stage and then....the dreaded piles!

Drink loads of water as well. Like crazy amounts.

Apart from that - it sucks!

Me Sad about 10 weeks with my first and I already look so lumpy I'm sure people must be guessing! So bloated!

Bought a big bottle of prune juice today. It was bloody expensive. It had better work. I never got constipated or so windy with DS. I was hungry all the time, whereas now I feel full and haven't got much appetite. Didn't stop me eating a huge dinner tonight mind you.

YES!!! Been so bloated since about week 7 like the poster above. I'm just under 10 weeks at the moment! Strange enough, my boobs have got bigger, my weight has gone down but somehow I look fat and bloated. Grr! The things we do for our beans Grin

Me! I was pregnant with twins.

WingsClipped · 30/09/2014 11:38

Me! I've been offered seats on the tube since 8 weeks! And random members of the public keep talking to me about my pregnancy Hmm. My current bloat bump is as big as when I was 25/30weeks pregnant with DD. Luckily no one has asked for due date yet- think they would be very shocked.

WingsClipped · 30/09/2014 11:42

And my darling darling mother told me last week that at 10weeks my bump was the same size as she was when she was due with me Angry. Thanks mum. Makes me feel sooo much better, especially since I was smaller with DD and she was already 9lb... I have nightmares that this one is gonna be born toddler sized.

Argh I'm 9+2 weeks and super bloated today, my jeans which have fit fine up until today I've had to undo the button cos it was hurting digging in!

I have just turned 6 weeks with baby number #1. I feel your pain, I have been growing so quickly, I thought it must be twins already! But after a few posts on here, I see its just gas/bloating. I have quite severe back pain, but my hubby rubs my back each night to ease the pain! I don't take anything though, I just get a good regular back rub! Happy pregnancy.
