6 weeks and browny red discharge

Hey mumsnetters - I'm working myself into a bit of a state. I am 6 weeks and starting Wednesday this week went up to a&e as I was concerned about a reddy brown discharge. They did blood and urine tests and said I was Definately still pregnant which put my mind at rest. They also did an internal inspection which although unpleasant I understood why. The following morning at 8am I had ultra sound and my GP had said I was 7-8 weeks and they said scan showed I was only about 5 but I remember doctor saying they added 2 weeks on for some reason?

The midwife was really nice and said it was probably just an implantation bleed and that they would re-scan in 2 weeks but I've had some more today - never alot just a tiny amount but now I'm really worried again.

Has anyone else had this? Xxx

Hi, i had exactly the same and it turned out i was two weeks earlier than I thought and it was an implantation bleed. Unless it is heavy and bright red accompanied by pain I wouldn't worry (easier said than done)

Thank you for your post Serephin, I've been in tears since Wednesday just hoping and praying everything is ok, it is a worrying time isn't it?

I've had 2 miscarriages years ago but now I've finally settled with an amazing partner I just hope that being blessed with being pregnant isn't too good to be true!

How many weeks are you? X

Hey Bella, I've had 3 miscarriages and I didn't have implantation bleeds with those. My 4th pregnancy I had a scan every fortnight up to 14 weeks. I had an implantation bleed with that one, which is now my 4 year old daughter. I'm 25+6 with my 5th pregnancy. I had an implantation bleed with this one too, but been ok so far - touch wood.

When I was a going to the miscarriage clinic the best advice they gave me was not to think about being pregnant. It was difficult but I must have spent 3 months addicted to FarmVille! Is there anything you can find to take your mind off things? I remember being obsessed with going to the toilet with my 2nd/3rd pregnancy (it never occurred to me with the 1st). I think that used to set me on edge more than anything else.

I've got my fingers crossed for you. Thanks

Thank you bittersweet - I think I am becoming slightly obsessive, I keep going to the toilet to check aswell it's really hard not to. I'm just trying to keep calm and rested and hope that everything will be ok xx

Hi - I've had little brownish bleeds at 9 weeks and now at 11 weeks too. After the 9 week one I had a scan and all was fine. I think it just sometimes happens, though it is incredibly difficult, especially if you've had mc in the past.

Each time it's happened I've had a very early night and taken it easy, and drunk lots of water, and it's stopped.

All the best of luck to you.

Hi, I had 2 brown bleeds, one at 8 weeks and then a MUCH heavier one at 10 weeks. Currently 23 weeks and she is beating me up from the inside and (touch wood) she seems very healthy.
Its terrifying but it doesn't always mean something is wrong. Try and get some sleep and not think about it too much (very hard to do I know). Take it easy and try not to check too much (I am still an obsessive toilet checker).

Sending you lots of good luck vibes xxx

I had brown bleeds at 6 weeks which went on for about 10 days and then again at 10 weeks for a few days. The doctor said to me it can be due to hormonal changes, but I was worried silly at the time. All was fine for me, but I do understand how worrying it is.

I would say to try and take it as easy as you can and remember that the most likely outcome is that it will be alright.

Good luck Flowers

I had a small bleed and some brown spotting at 5 and 6 weeks. I'm 17 weeks now and all seems fine (healthy 12 week scan and heard heartbeat last week). Try not to worry too much bleeding in early pregnancy is surprisingly common and I know a few people like me who bled but stayed pregnant.

Serephim · 28/09/2014 00:42

Hi Bella,
I am 16+2 weeks :) I had two miscarriages before my only DD who is 9. Huge gap lol!
The waiting is the worst, I also bled at 14 weeks on a Saturday and had to wait until Tuesday for a scan. All is well though, touch wood Smile

ashtrayheart · 28/09/2014 00:49

I bled a lot with my last 2 pregnancies and all was fine. Good luck x

I just went to the loo and wiped away some pinky discharge, I am a bit worried that! I am about 6/7 weeks and feel sick with worry. I MC in June so I don't want to go through that again.

leanne963 · 28/09/2014 11:53

Hmm just went again and there was nothing!! Body, why do you do this to me!?! Sad

CeilingThomas · 28/09/2014 21:43

I had brown spotting during weeks 6-7, and bleeds at 9+1, 11+1, and 13+3 with my DS (now 2.5yrs old!) The ones at 11 and 13 were red blood rather than brown and it seemed like a lot but was probably a couple of wipes worth when I went to the loo. No one could explain it, it was just one of those things. I'm currently 5 weeks with no. 2 and just waiting for the same thing to happen. All I can say is that there isn't anything you can do to affect the outcome but chances are it'll be ok. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
