Pregnant and needing GP advice in south London/Surrey area-please help

I'm really hoping someone can help me.

I'm 8 months pregnant with my first baby. Although I'm registered with a local GP, I opted out of the NHS years ago - just too many bad experiences.

I've been seeing a wonderful private GP in central London for years. Never really needed to consider home visits and a 24 hour number but with a baby on the way, my attention has turned.

My current GP says I'm just too far out to provide complete cover so I'm looking for a private new GP in the Wimbledon/Sutton/Banstead/Carshalton area.

Any suggestions? I'd be so grateful.

There's a really super man called Michael Barrie who runs his own practice called Coombe Medical Practice. He's between Wimbledon and Kingston - might that work for you? I don't know how to link to his website, I'm afraid.

Current GP is in Sloane St (far too posh for us to live in) but was recommended by a smart friend. He doesn't know anything about suburbia - so can't recommend.

Mumsnet found a postnatal midwife for me so I'm hoping it can do the same for a great GP. Thanks so much for the coombe medical suggestion. We'd seen his website but wasnt sure if he is good. Will investigate further.

Any further advice will be very much welcomed.

He is wonderful, I promise! Extremely kind, gentle and very child-friendly too, having 2 boys of his own. His wife is his nurse. DD needed minor surgery which they performed together!

Ah, not sure about home visits. He did offer to do one for me on one occasion, but I suspect I live fairly close. He always seems to have loads of connections, though, so he might well be able to recommend someone.
