Hi everyone,

Is anyone else experiencing haemorrhoids in their pregnancy? If so how have you had this treated? I haven't seen a midwife yet but i definitely felt an internal one. I googled for information but they're all quite generic. Will it go in time? I know it's meant to be v common in pregnancy but it's scaring me a bit!!

Thanks!

Sheriproct steroid cream...

Was told this by a midwife:
Fill a rubber or latex glove with water and tie the top in a knot.
Place in freezer.
When frozen peel off the glove ( rinse under hot tap to loosen) snap of a digit and stick it up your bum.

Thanks ch1a I will look those up. I can definitely relate to the clutching-the-towel-rail agony! I think having a baby ruined me down below in every possible way Sad
I don't know how people keep on doing it!

Swallow a clove of raw garlic every morning wth a glass of water.
If you swallow it whole without chopping you won't smell garlicky.

Anusol works for me.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/09/2014 10:20

Use moist toilet tissue or toddler wipes because loo roll will feel like sandpaper. As well as the creams or suppositories - this is one for the brave - you can gently ease the ones that are outside back inside your anus and they stop chafing.

Redrosesplease · 26/09/2014 11:17

No hot baths because hot water dilates blood vessels. Haemorrhoids are dilated blood vessels so you will dilate them even more so they are more likely to prolapse Shock

Believe me you do NOT want prolapsed piles

MrsN1984 · 26/09/2014 12:26

I mentioned it to my OH after he noticed me wincing in pain and to my shock he got up, grabbed his keys and said he'd go to the chemist for me Shock cream worked for me but I'm only 20 wks. Expecting them to get worse lol

capecath · 26/09/2014 13:51

myusernameis Yes... I used lactulose to help :P

I would recommend the Anusol HC that you have to ask the pharmacist before. You might need a DP or DH to get for you, as it's one of those "as the doctor first if you're pregnant" ones. The suppositories and the ointment - even if they're external the suppositories help. I think if they're really bad there's something the doctor can prescribe too, I forget the name (to be fair, currently overdue, and I have forgotten the name of most things...)

And one of my friends has recommended soaking big bits of cotton wool in witch hazel, and then putting in the freezer. Then it's kind of a soothing ice pad. Works for post birth fanjo too.

Ah, the joys of pregnancy and childbirth!

MsSampson · 26/09/2014 15:03

ask the doctor

ThisFenceIsComfy · 26/09/2014 15:17

Well this is the most embarrassing question I have ever asked but do piles itch like mad?

MsSampson · 26/09/2014 15:52

They can do, yes. And although embarrassing, you'd be amazed how many people have/have had them. I think 50% of people will have them at some point in their lives or something.

BlueBrightBlue · 26/09/2014 16:20

I didn't have them all that bad but unfortunately I have got these wretched skin tags around my bum hole. Apparently the op to have them removed causes more discomfort than having piles/skin tags.
Ah the joys! ( my pet hate expression)
Piles can itch but so can these beasties:

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 26/09/2014 16:49

Well.mine are properly hurting today. Think I might have to take a visit to the Pharmacist tomorrow for shame

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 28/09/2014 22:32

Been to Boots and the pharmacist was brilliant. Their own brand haemmeroid ointment is working an absoloute treat so am recommending it!

May all our arses be back to.normal soon!
