I had in mind I was 6-7 weeks gone, then my midwife confirmed this. Due to strong pains and fainting I went to hospital and they did a scan. But there was only an empty sack and she said I'm only 4 week. But my midwife has wrote on my green book that I'm 8+ week, this was after my trip to hospital?! I'm so confused to what's going on as this is my first pregnancy. Help BlushBlush

Hi millie, it's likely that you are 8 weeks by your dates but the sac is only measuring 4 weeks. How sure about your dates are you? If you are 100% sure of your dates it maybe that the pregnancy is not viable and that you will miscarry (really sorry to say that but I've been through something similar and it may happen Sad). Everything may have stopped developing at 4 weeks Sad. They usually offer a follow up scan for a weeks time to check for growth of the sac/any foetal development.

If you are unsure of your dates you may just be earlier on than you think, in which case everything might be fine.

It sounds like you haven't been given much information. I hope you get the answers you need soon.

I'm not too sure about how all the dates work to be honest but I know the first day of my last period was the 4th August. They haven't given me no more follow up appointments so I'm so confused as to what's happening. My mind thinking all different things now.

Was it A&E you went to? I have heard stories about A&E being less than helpful for this sort of thing. It sounds like they are assuming you have your dates wrong, rather than offering any follow up scans to be sure. If the first day of your last period was 4th August you are exactly 7 weeks tomorrow.

Go to your GP, explain about your symptoms and that the scan showed the sac at 4 weeks, but your dates say 7. Your GP should then be able to refer you to the Early Pregnancy Unit (EPU) at your hospital for another scan. As EPU are specialists in early pregnancy you should be able to get a clearer picture from them. Your GP might say wait a week for another scan though as they may need enough time to check for further growth. Are A&E sending the scan info to your GP?

I went to the walk in centre then they referred me to the EPU, they did all the checks and the scan. Yeah they have sent all the info to my doctor I think. I'll make an appointment with my GP early morning tomorrow. Thank you!

Odd that EPU didn't offer a follow up scan if you are measuring smaller than your dates. Are you still having the strong pains? I hope everything is ok and wishing you luck Flowers

No not anymore, only have small cramps on some days. Thank you me too!!

Well that's a good sign if the cramps have gone then. Any bleeding and you must make sure you get seen again (although some spotting in early pregnancy is common).
