What do early contractions feel like?

Hiya, my little one is due on Sunday (finally!!!)
I know when my full on contractions start I will know that they are contractions but I was wondering if anyone who's already had a baby could let me know what early ones felt like.
I've been having some cramps, and could describe them as a mixture of
How you feel when you really need to poop
Just been punched in the stomach
Period pains
Stabby pains in bum and who-ha

Very irregular over the last 24/48 hours. I know I'm not in labour as such, but are these signs she's finally going to make a move soon?
I have a sweep booked in tomorrow afternoon, and my bump has started dropping but other than those things I've got no other signs she's planning on arriving any time soon.

Any advice will be much appreciated x

Could be the start.

Ds2 was like period pains (although waters had already gone).

Ds1 was a full in, double you up and drop your to the floor contraction.

My early ones were like painful tightenings.
After my waters broke it just felt like someone was shoving a hot poker up my arse
I think that's a rare one, though the (lovely) midwife told me that she'd experienced it too.

Mine (also started after my waters has gone) were like very very mild period pains.

Due today and have had similar twinges on and off for a few days, especially in the early hours. Strong BH contractions as well. Will watch this thread with interest as wouldn't mind meeting baby now!

All my contractions (with both DC) were like period pains. They got steadily worse. The very early ones were like having a teeny electric shock where you get period pains.

I'm due sunday too and have had exactly the same feelings! It's got to the point where I am sooo uncomfy and change sitting positions every 5 minutes so I'm hoping things will start to progress!!

Both my labours started like period pain/ bad indigestion. The kind that makes you stop and wince with pain till it passes. Not bad, BAD pain, just the kind that temporarily freezes you.

And in both my labours, my waters didn't break until just before they came out. The last labour they went with such force, they soaked the student midwife! Then 3 contractions later, dd2 was here.

I didn't even know my early ones were contractions - I think it can differ with everybody. Mine weren't crampy or painful at all so I didn't think twice about my stomach feeling a bit odd/tight every three minutes! That is until my waters broke

mine were like period pain but mostly in my lower back. When I was having my second baby I spent ages googling it to make sure I was in labour and not fussing over nothing. Goes to show they can be different every time!!

I've been getting twinges once or twice a day for a week or two... but cervix isn't open yet (according to last check) and nothing happening yet. 40+6.

I WISH something would happen now aaarrrgggghhhh hurry up.

I was induced and the first stage felt like the mild uncomfortable period pains that I used to get as a teenager.

I am also due on Sunday and am experiencing the same feelings as you. I keep hoping it's labour but it's just wishful thinking.

My first labour 11 years ago, was induced so I have never gone into labour naturally so don't know the initial signs !

I hope your sweep gets things going...i have one booked for the 25th but have been praying something happens before then !
